It says "$8000" invested but it doesn't say where the investment was applied? (I suppose that could have been a really expensive polish job on the tail section)

I don't like to slam people but he's got to be kidding! I think the $8K includes the purchase of the bike, the helmets, jacket, etc.

If that was the case, I could say I have over $15K invested in my 1998 S3T (purchase price, interest, pipe, aircleaner, tank bag, Corbin seat, etc, etc, etc). But it's still only worth about $4500 (on a good day).

"invested" may not be correct financial term, rather more like "emotional investment". That moneys gone dude, and it ain't never coming back...

But I empathize, I think I have easily $8K in my M2 already, and still finding thing$ to do to it...

Have you priced carbon wheels lately?

Carbon wheels?
Ouch!
Hurts my wallet just looking at them.
Would love to have them though, along with a RAM SSSwingarm.

Yes. Worth almost but not quite $5000 I think.
You don't "invest" money in a vehicle. you SPEND it.

I "invested" in my X1 too.
$9000 initial cost
+1100 extended warrantee
+ 280 Air cleaner
+2000 10K mile servicing (five I think)
+2000 78,000 miles of rear tires
+1000 78,000 miles of front (half as many)
+ 170 first broken belt (sportster belt)
+ 140 second broken belt (XB12X belt)
+ 740 tranny work for second gear set
+ 230 clutch plates

See? mine is worth more.
