I decided to check out one of our sponsors. I went to Hal's from the badweb link. They don't even list any Buells in current inventory. You wouldn't even know they carried Buells as the heading is "Hals HD", not Hals HD-Buell. The only mention of Buell is the factory listing of 2007 & 2008 models, which every HD site has. Man, you would think a sponsor w/ at least list a few bikes in their inventory. Then again, I am not surprised, it just shows that VERY few dealers give a s#$t. When will we have stand alone Buell dealers?

Right now we've only received (2) 2008 Buells (a 9sx and a Uly). They're shipping late for some reason. If Hal's is out, it's probably because of that. I know we haven't had a 12R in stock for months because of it. It's killin' me!!

I didn't intend to sound mean, and no offense to Hal's. It's just the same story over and over. We are an afterthought at best. The worst was Lakeshore HD where you have to be escorted into a storeroom to see the Buells.

Sorry to say it , get used to it. Until Torque gets that lotto money we are all in the same boat. I got a news letter from Liberty the other day and was quite pleased with their take on Buell and their riders. the local "dealer" wont even talk Buell. Just wants to know what type of Chrome I need. I hate it. If Torque does hit, I want a job there. Be more than happy to get the word out on Buell Inc. and the wonderful bikes they produce. Until then, I'm happy to be a rolling ambassador. Keep the faith and try to be understanding of the ignorance at the HD "museums". I regret the way that sounded, Hals isnt meant to be implied here.

Warlizard .. and anyone else for that matter

You are terribly mistaken when it comes to Hal's ...

They are the BEST dealership when it comes to Buell's ... they also have one of the BEST, if not THE best Buell tech over there (who just happens to be the Thunderbike champion from last year !) .. they also sponsor SEVERAL racers .. they are the last dealership to be called anti- Buell !

And there are a few things you obviously missed ...

You are new here, BUT.. before you bad talk a dealership, get yourself informed before making assumptions .. we all know what happens when one makes assumptions !!

Hal's is one of two dealerships that took care of ALL of the Bueller's that came to Homecoming this year (AND last year !) .. took it upon themselves to finance a few activities OTHER than what Buell offered !

Hal's parts dept. also helped an out of state Bueller by giving a discount on a part he needed to get back home !

Hal's also stepped up when Buell dropped BRAG and is still backing our local Buell group (Brew City Thunderbikes) - they've even linked to our site on their front page .. really anti-Buell ..

I can personally GUARANTEE that they have quite a few Buell's in their inventory ... If anyone looked at their inventory - you could easily figure it's not updated, as they only show a small handful of Harley's as well .. not typical for any dealership - so their website isn't updated .. oh well - they are too busy taking care of customers. .. Harley's and Buell's alike - let's also not forget - they've won the Pegasus award 10 times - who else can say that ?!?

I am in there a couple times a week .. ALWAYS taken care of !

NOT Hals HD/Buell ?
Huh, there is a large Buell sign right out in front of their dealership.

Brian may have been a bit excited, because he forgot a few things....

Hals has been, and will always be a premier dealership for several reasons. They get it, unlike many dealerships. Not only have they sponsored several track days past and present, they have loaned us the reigning Thunderbike champion, Danny Bilasnky for personal instruction to our little Buell group. They are a 10 time wining pegasus award winner. No other dealership in the world has that many. They wont get that from just being mediocre.

This Saturday, I had an internet acquaintance come up from the Chicago area to see my bike, and to test ride a Uly. We met at Hals for the 1st time. He, unfortunately forgot his driver's license at home, in Chicago. BudC, said, well, we've got a big parking lot, take her for a short spin. This was their '07 Demo. Bud was telling him about some of the '08 improvements, and then offered to go back and get the '08 Uly they had just set up for him to go take a ride. Keep in mind, they had NO WAY to prove who this guy was at all. Go do that at any dealership and see how far ya get.

Could their site be updated to show their current inventory? Sure. Would I judge a dealership by just their web site? Nope. Hals ain't perfect. But they sure the Hell are better at it than just about any dealer in the country IMHO.

Oh yeah, some MORE proof that they actually get it.

Another thing... Take a look at the development pics of the XBRR and 1125R. There are 2 employees of Hals that are in those pics : )

Relax dudes - I never said anything bad and I made NO assumptions. I merely stated what happened when I clicked on their promo. Don't kill the messenger. Do I judge a company by their website - to a certain degree. If something is not w/in driving distance, thats really all you have. For all I know they might be THE best Buell dealer. They would have to be better than the ones around here. The reason I checked them out in the first place is due to the props they get on the badweb. Again I just reported what I found w/out bias. I didn't check the inventory of other bikes as I have no interest in other bikes. As for what I obviously missed - absolutely nothing. I went there for one reason, to check for tubers, didn't find any so I left. As for the sign in front of the place, I have never been there. I was referring to the heading of the webpage which says "Hals HD". I apologize for posting what I found and to anyone who was offended.

Ive never dealt with Hals so if it came across as I was badmouthing them, I APOLOGIZE! I simply was comparing his experience with one I had with a local dealer. I agree with all you've said (Tatt and Steve), was merely trying to point out that most HD dealers are chrome pushers and to try and be patient. Of course if your post was not directed at me, I believe I know better to make my own judgement from my own experiences. Absolutely no offense meant or taken. From all I have heard from others,Hals is one of the better dealers.

"Then again, I am not surprised, it just shows that VERY few dealers give a s#$t. "

"It's just the same story over and over. We are an afterthought at best."

The way your post would be taken with those two comments, made within the same post that had Hal's as the main topic, are assumptions you formed after a short website visit, and yes, it really is bad mouthing them because when you read that - it appears to be directed at them.

"As for what I obviously missed - absolutely nothing. I went there for one reason, to check for tubers, didn't find any so I left."

Like it or not - you did make an assumption based on what you just said...

You assumed that because they do not have tubers listed in their inventory they are one of the dealers that don't give a shit (to quote your initial post) As far as what you missed, you apparently still missed it - you say you went there because of Badweb and the praise they have received, yet you seem to dismiss all the praise because you didn't find what you want on a website (I personally would take word of mouth over a website any day) But what I was initially referring to is the fact that had you known, or not missed all that Hal's did recently for the Buell community you wouldn't be lumping them in with dealer's that sadly are exactly like you described ... And I say missed because when you came around this place Homecoming was the topic on everybody's mind ...

As far as looking for tuber's ... You will be hard pressed to find a used tuber at just about any dealer, I know you posted about a few you found .. but it is not commonplace .. the ones that end up at dealerships don't last - they had a total of 3 used tuber's this year that I remember being on the floor - racing stripe edition X1, a really, really nice S3T (that just sold within the last month).. and at the beginning of the year they had a 97 S1 .. which became mine the second they put it on the floor ...

Feel free to post as you wish, with what you wish .. Just one request - take care in how you say/word things and about who/what you say things about to ensure the wrong message isn't passed along- many forum visitors rely heavily on the information they find here, and they put much faith in that info, in this instance -I'd hate to see one of the dealerships that DO get it, be lumped in with the ones that don't .. that is why Steve and I jumped quick to defend them (as I'm sure others will as well when reading this post)

Brian

Again guys, I apologize. I am just so used to going to websites to find nothing. It gets on your nerves after awhile. As I said I have heard goods things about Hal's. I guess I was expecting to see a few tubers and was disappointed. I am hoping one day to walk into a dealership and actually see Buells prominantly displayed and not see the one or two Buells they do have being used like a rack to display Harley merchandise.

I didn't realize how close New Berlin Wi is to me. I wish I had known sooner as I was just in Milwaukee on Sunday. I will definitely take a ride up there w/ an open mind and check the place out. If Hal's is half as good as the rep, I just might bring the X1 up there for major work, hopefully a 1250 kit in the near future. It sure would be nice to speak w/ a tech that actually knows his stuff.

The techs you'd want to talk with are Danny Bilasnky and Terry Galagan. Those two guys were very instrumental in Buell racing history. And the development of the XBRR. Danny was one of the guys you see in the videos of the 1125R. Kirk,(Hals son) is even going to do the October 9th track day with us : ) How many dealership owners would attend a track day?

But if you do ride up there, ping Tat and I, we'd be glad to meet up with ya. And make damn sure you seek out BudC when you're there. But don't do it on a Sunday. They are closed.

If you do go to Hal's, also be sure to visit their speed shop which is in a separate building and has their own website halspa.com .

Dealership web sites are almost always way out of date and inaccurate at to what they actually have in their inventory.

Not anymore, Mike. It's all internal in the main building at Hals. The Collision center is in the building previously occupied by the speed shop. HalsPA still exists, but it just all in the normal shop and parts areas now.

hopefully a 1250 kit in the near future

I'll forewarn you ahead of time so you won't be disappointed ... when you talk to the guys "in the know" at Hal's they are probably going to try to talk you out of a 1250 kit ... I walked in with the same intentions, walked out with something totally different .. (they will recommend my setup over a 1250 kit, or if money isn't an option - upgrading to an 88" for real power)

Hal's will do what you want as far as motor upgrades .. but if you talk to them first to ask whats best - you will probably be steered away from the 1250 kit .. The two techs Steve pointed out are actually the ones that pointed me away from the 1250 kit .. but give em a call .. ask for the Speed Shop as Mike mentioned - tell them what you want to accomplish and they will give you the best options available... (between the Speed Shop and the racers there - they have pretty much tried everythign and they know what will work)

BTW - in the parts dept. - ask for Collin, when you go there - look for Bud (he'll be in the rental dept. - but he is the guy who's been doing the fighting for more Buell recognition, and organized many Homecoming activities this year - he even bought a Buell this year !
- In service - you'll want Danny Bilansky or Terry Galagan ... (Terry is also part of the Speed Shop, him or Sam)

Man, I guess I just don't get out enough anymore. If they're in the same building now then where do they hide all the secret stuff they might or might not be working on?????

It was always fun to wander back there and find someone with an analyzer plugged into a race bike messing with the settings out in the parking lot.

I've emailed them in the past and talked to a couple of the speed shop guys over the phone. My Email went unanswered and they weren't very cooperative with my other queries. I just took my business elsewhere.

Perhaps my email was blocked and I didn't speak to the right people? Who knows.

Hey guys,
I guess I'd better chime in on some of this!
Warlizzard: Sorry about the current state of affairs with our website. Besides being the Buell Sales Lead and Co-ordinator for Buell Events at Hal's I am the Rental Manager and moderator for our threads here at BadWeb. I also assist the Sales Department with the H-D sales. In order to survive in today's marketplace we must do more than one thing. Hell, I've even scrubbed the floors once or twice! Unfortunately, there just isn't enough time in the day. We are currently working on revising our site and I hope to have an updated inventory yet this week. But we also have the Milwaukee Rally this week and it's Labor Day, another busy rental weekend. I don't mind criticism as long as it's constructive.

Thanks Steve, Brian and Mikej. You guys are the best!

Rick_a: If you still have a problem please call me at 262-814-8685. If you sent an email I'm sorry I didn't see it. Right now I am getting at least 50 emails a day between Rentals and Buell. It is hard to stay on top of them all.

Thanks,
BudC

I'm a little puzzled by that. The only downside to such kits is the price. As long as the plating process is good Nikasil cylinders have been long regarded as the best available in nearly all forms of motorsports.

I said it because that is exactly what happened to me when I went in there and asked about doing a 1250 kit on my S1 ... I was convinced not to do it .. was told I could get pretty much the same gains if not more with spending less money ..

Call and ask to speak with Terry Galagan .. he can explain why much better than I ..

So whats the magic formula. I live in Canada and will never be able to get work done at Hal's but Id love to hear what was recommended to you guys so I can discuss with my Dealer. Btw my local dealer Eldridge HD/Buell and Honda here in NB have a great used bike section with updated bikes and there always seems to be a Tuber in on trade, thats how I found my 02 M2.
