So, after striking out on a used one, can someone give me the dimensions of one off a tuber? I need total length, stroke, and also where its mounted. I know American Sport Bike sells them but I want to try and make my own mounts with a generic stabilizer.

most of the generic stabilizers I have gotten my hands on are WAY too short.

Though, while I dont know the stroke of the tuber stab, it IS long, pretty close to the stab of a sporty....

The mounts arent too hard, make a clamp with a collaped diameter of 53mm, for your 54 mm fork tube, and another clamp(dimensions ellude me right now), for the frame brace...

Storz unit measured 13 7/8" if I recall correctly, took a measurement for someone a month or two ago.

My bike does not have the rubber bumpers and has inverted forks so that should be close to the number you need.

Jim, please do get some measurements. LittleB, Thankyou, its close to what I had measured out but want to be positive. BTW, one cat called today and said he has a Vrod headlight for 125.

I'll check that measurement in the morning if you'd like and might be able to attach a photo/close up of the mounting points if it would help. Now that I think on it it may have been 11 7/8" I'll be embarrassed if I'm off by two inches!

No thanks on the V-rod light, the plastic backed unit from the dealer is only $75-85, I think it will be too small anyway.

Okay, looks like actual travel is 13 3/8". The unit is mounted 5 1/2" from the "vertical" brace. If you have those bumper thingy's on your frame you won't need so much travel.

sorry for the poor resolution, I can never get pictures to look right here.

Has anyone tried to make the Scotts style dampner work. They are suppose to be the better style and I haven't seen any on a Buell.
There is one on ebay that actually mounts to the bar mounts and I don't know how it would work out on a buell but just an idea

a mount like that, I am sure would be able to work, somehow.

Maybe I can get ahold of one here locally, long enough to check it out...

Thank you all for replying. Man, I love this site, you guys and gals, are the best. Brin, saw the one your talking about. Looking to get one cheap but dont see that happening. I thought about the Scotts style, dont think itll work because of our handlebars. they mount to the upper triple. Now they do make them with handlbar clamps built in. This was made for a KTM. Maybe a short one that can be mounted like the Ducati. I'm sure between all of us we can make something work. I really am glad for your help guys.

Yea .. I wanted .. take that back - NEEDED it for my S1 ... major necessity at the dragstrip .. and major benefit on the track or street ..

I could probably take the one off my M2 since it also has inverted forks .. but I have had it on the M2 for so long that the bike probably wouldn't feel right without it .. and I never liked the idea of cannibalizing a perfectly good bike for another (and my M2 albeit slower than the S1, is the better bike)

Sadly I left for my camping trip for 5 days on Wednesday morning .. I threw my bid in Tuesday I think .. hoping it would be enough ..

I too look for names of BadWebbers when bidding .. problem is - many people use different names on the bay than they do here .. but to those that noticed and backed off - thanks !!! Too bad I didn't get it....

Wonder if a list somewhere on this site with e-bay names to BadWeb names would be a halfway decent idea .. others in the past have PM'd me when I was bidding on something to see if it was me ... and I have done the same as well, backed off if I knew the person already bidding...

FMJ, could you post some pics of the short UJM stab mount, particularly, WHERE you mounted it..

I have 6 or 7 kicking around, and could probably make some mounts, and what not, for tubers....

Yes, I saw it on someones bike here and they used a small gsxr unit. I believe he mounted it to the front motor mount bolt. (frame not head)

Well, I guess I could go star a thread in the KV somewhere for everyone to post their ebay names...but someone would probably need to make a spreadsheet of it....

I'm s10man69 on there...tat, some guy out bid ya so I saw with 30 min left u didn't bid, so I bought it...

Anywho, still haven't gotten it yet but I sure hope it comes with the screws.
If it doesn't, can someone please tell me what kind of screws/bolts I'm supposed to use with it?

They really didn't comment on condition in the auction .. said auction is for what's pictured - a way of covering flaws -

Now if it's oily - the seal may be leaking - you can send it to Storz and for 40 bucks I guess they will rebuild it ...

But yes - it does suck....very much so !

Well, the guy just emailed me back and he said I could send it back for a refund.
Is $200 bucks still worth it for this thing?
But those scratches aren't gonna be able to be polished out I don't think.

So whattaya think?

I would get out of it. My personal feelings. It wasnt listed as leaking or damaged so you really dont know what has happened to it. If the rod got bent then straightened it'll always leak. The minute imperfections cause the seals to tear and wear out quickly. I know because I was in that situation after crashing my GSXR. Wound up getting a new one and solved the constant leaks. For 200 you can get a new one. maybe not complete with brackets but the stab itself. I hate to see this happen to you. Really anyone, thats a problem I have with fleabay. Its not mentioned to try and drive the price up.
