I have just got my bike from the dealer with the new engine on. The old engine (mod. 04) was replaced under warranty after the worm gears that drive the oil pump were destroyed. The new engine is a mod. 07.

I am very happy with the way BUELL supported me and replaced the entire engine.

What are the differences between the 04 and the 07 engines?

All the different BUELL models(R,S Uly) have the same engine, or there are variations in cams, injection maps?

After driving the new engine for 1 day the 07 engine feels much improved than the 04 old one. The transmision is smoother and the engine seems faster. I feel that the crankshaft is lighter and when braking hard the flywheel effect is less. This made a big difference in braking and entering a corner.

You'll be very pleased with the '07 engine.

Ride safe, enjoy and keep smiling and leaning.

And following the recommended break in procedures will ensure a long engine life. :>;)

That is good news. Would you please describe how on Earth you were able to obtain resolution to your problem without publicly declaring war against Buell or hopping all around the internet deriding Buell motorcycles. What is the world coming to? : )

Jack, for the first 100 miles I revved up to 3000 rpm. Up to 300 miles(completed today)I revved up to 3500 rpm. I have just changed engine oil&filter and I saw some metal debris on the magnet. Is this normal? I plan to run up to 4000rpm until 600 miles and then start increasing rpm gradualy. I hope this is enough because my right hand is getting itchy.

Blake, there was no need to say anything bad about the BUELL company and their bikes. On the contrary, I am really impressed by the fact that the factory chose to give me a new engine instead of repairing the old one. This is fantastic! It was worth the wait.

GO BUELL !!!

GO USA !!!

Still no-one answered my questions.

Does anyone have any data regarding the volume of the new heads vs. old ones?

I heard from an employee that the intake ports were very slightly changed, the airbox, the mapping and the oil pump was modified.
