Greetings All, Sorry, I updated my profile and forgot to check off "Storm Fronts" for e-mail updates. Welcome to 2008 and as you probably already know the shortest day of the winter has past so riding season is getting closer!! This is as far as I’ve gotten on the 2008 schedule but if you have additional events to add, please let me know so I can continue to update our calendar. Our monthly meetings will still be on the third Tuesday of the month at L.J.’s on Kimble Avenue in Waterloo from 6:00 to around 8:00 and after the weather straightens out our monthly rides will be the following Sunday. O.K. everyone, let’s get a F.A.S.T. group together to attend the NESBA trackday at Iowa Speedway, June 28 or 29 or both. This will be the closest event to us and it will be a great opportunity to take a track school or gain more track time. Track days are a lot more fun and less intimidating when you go with friends! Mark this one on your calendars, ASAP!! I just set up a blog spot for my racing effort and believe a blog for F.A.S.T. would be a great idea also! It’s free and easy to set up and I can give everyone the access to upload photos from rides, races, projects, etc. This could be a great way to keep everyone posted as well as let other friends and family keep updated on what we’re up to. Last years' NESBA events were traditional track days with three groups on both days. I'm not sure if they put on a riding school or not. I really hope they do as we have several guys who would like to go but it will be their first adventure on a track. You're right, Newton is too close not to attend. They did it last year but I didn't attend after CCS cancelled our race there. I'm promoting it since it is close and won't require an overnight stay. Jandj_davis / I think several of us are headed up to the IMS on Saturday also. Don't forget to bring your Buell key for whatever they are giving away at the booth. | ||

thought this place needed a little livening up! went for my first ride in... well... i dont know. too long. it was one degree(with windchill, not counting the fact that i was doing 70!) when i rode into work today on my day off to sell two brothers stuff for their new 07 and new 08 12R's they were purchasing. i took my 12 in just because, and so they could here the drummer. they are both sitting in the shop awaiting there own now! we now have the first buell trade in we have taken since i have worked there. an 04 xb12s. | ||

Tim, Those two young guys were at the Silver Eagle shop a few weekends ago shopping. I'm glad they ended up buying Buells. I talked to their Mom about doing a track school and she seemed all for it so I gave them the F.A.S.T. blog address to keep up on our schedule. holy cows! someone posted in this section!!!!! damn prior, i should have looked you up last weekend. the gf and i were in dubuque visiting her family and we went riding the river road sunday. had a good time cruising around! we will be heading up wednesday(maybe tuesday night) staying at bud's on wed and the host hotel on thursday/friday, then steve's on saturday. | ||

Well, it is now a month away! I am talking about the MotoGP Races in Indianapolis! A friend and I are currently planning to ride down, leaving Wednesday, camping in IL (at my prandparents farm, so no cost), and getting to the track in time for the pit walks on Thurs. Naturally, the route is all State/County higways and local roads, with some godd curvy sections and a state park or two thrown in for good measure. I have the routes drawn up in Delorme and can try to get them to another format if anyone wants to see the route. Shoot me a PM if you are interested in joining in for the ride down or back. it was alot of fun! mid america is a little different then the other ones ive been on. its in the middle of a prairie! no land marks to go by just tall grass. road america and blackhawk both have a little more character. the first session out i almost called it quits for the day. my head was not in the game at all. my corners were horriable. obviously i didnt know the track since it was my first time there, but i also got 3 hours of sleep friday night, worked saturday, then packed and finished up the bikes all saturday night after celebrating the gf's bday. so i never slept saturday night then left for MAM at 2:00 sunday morning, unloaded and got ready to run so that might have had something to do with it! i pulled it together though and let them know the buell is a force to be reckond with, lol! the 1125 keeps getting faster everytime i hit the track with it. i suppose i do to though. my friend put his 1000 gixxer down the second session out. he got a little scuffed up but that was it. the bike got the whole right side body and tail, scuffed the side case and just scuffs on the tank with no dents! he damn near quit for the day but i kept riding him until until he let me start patching the bike back together. we got it back out on the track and he had a good rest of the day. i have decided i need to get another set of wheels with some race rubber on them. i have been really pissing the tires off and they are letting me know it. had some really cool powerslides through some of the corners. i wish they were caught on film. im sure the first one looked all out of shape, but they felt pretty smooth after the pucker factor went away the first time. | ||

Great write up, Tim, I've been at Mid America alot so I totally understand what you're talking about as far as landmarks, the place is as flat as a pancake!! Once you figure out a few of the tricky corners though, it's a fun track. I'd hoped to get my 1125R on the track this summer, too but now I dought that I will since if I'm at a track day I'm tuning up for a race the next day with the XB12R. I'm jealous!! If you need race tires, I can make you a screaming deal on my take-offs because right now they're just sitting here collecting dust! I'm running Pirellis and have had no reason to switch brands. We'll be back at MAM in October, come over and take the licensing school, you might as well get your license whether you decide to race or not, it's a very good school for any advanced rider to take. | ||

I'll be in Hastings, NE. racing over the 6th and 7th, hopefully! I checked the CCS site and there isn't a racer school at the last event at MAM in October because it is a two day event. Blackhawk will have two more racer schools yet this year, though. | ||
