Well, I made it from Dallas to Meridian, MS. Sitting here at the KOA tent site, drinking some fresh brewed and pressed coffee, eatin some oatmeal and typing on badweb from my air card in the laptop. Does it get any better? See you guys in Suches this afternoon. Micah |

Because of matters beyond my control, it looks like I have to change my plans. Oh, I'm still coming... but I won't be there until Friday night. Looks like I'll be staying in a hotel instead of camping, but if anyone with a cabin has some extra room I'd be willing to chip in for expenses for whatever amenities I can get. I can't believe the crap I'm having to put up with getting ready for this... but I AM coming. |

speaking of crap we have to put up with. When i requested 1.5 weeks to do my little trip this year, two of my directors all most threw tantrums over me being out that long. They stated i was critical to (project x). I had to ask them what the difference was between my request and one of our engineers from india that asked for 30-40 days off to go back to india and they approved it. They had nothing but frowns for me and signed off on my request. Work is work, some form of it will always be there for me. That's why I take vacations. |

I have to sit through three other students lecturing for 50 minutes apiece on some crap that I don't even care about tomorrow from 1000-1300. So I'm going to be really itching to get on the road by the time I actually get my crap together at about 1400... |

for those looking for something else to do in the area, Unicoi State park has Saturday night music in the park. Musicians perform each Saturday at 8pm. Regional musicians perform a variety of music from Appalachian Mountain, Bluegrass, and Southern Gospel music. The program lasts from June-mid-November. These programs will be "pass-the-hat" donations for the musicians. $3 parking. 706-878-2201 ext. 305. Looks pretty interesting, and a good chilly ride on the way back to TWO that night. |

I got home this afternoon after riding with a major pucker feeling every little engine hesitation as if I was losing the rear cylinder again. Nope! Instead, I lost the front exhaust header nut and stud. Sonofa...! So it's off to the dealer to get that fixed ASAP. |

Awesome weekend! I exorcised my speed demons Saturday and chilled out Sunday. I got some freaking sweet pictures (you guys are going to crap yourselves with joy), and the weather was so nice when I got back to TWO that I just laid down in my tent and napped for a while. It's good that I wasn't railing down 60 on my way home because I rounded a blind corner and found four items of note: 1) A cruiser on its side pointing the wrong direction in my lane 2) Another cruiser on its side pointed in the correct direction under the guard rail 3) Two confused looking riders 4) A Mazda Miata facing the wrong direction parked in my lane with the driver and his son getting out to help the bikers I pulled over, got off my Ulysses, and took charge as Crash Director. I sent the kid up around the corner to flag down traffic, then helped the guys lift their bikes and get them started again. One guy's shoulder looked rashed up. I could see that through the holes in his t-shirt, of course. He could raise his arm over his head with nothing more than soreness, though, so I sent him on his way. I made it home safe, and my neighbor just delivered some home made apple cake, so the day couldn't end much better! |

We rolled in around around 1:30 with no incidents to speak of. Great weather, great weekend overall. Really now, where else in the world do citizens have the freedom to do all we did this weekend? Add a phrase or two in your prayers this week for the folks who went down this weekend too |

I'm home. Kristi, if you're looking for a nice trip home, 76->17->64->441->I40 is much nicer than the I85 route I've taken before. A couple incidents of note. I filled up this morning south of Blairsville. I left the bike at the pump while I went inside and someone else pulled up so Amanda decided to move the bike. Thanks to Barker for getting the bike off Amanda. She was unhurt but quite embarrassed. About 5 miles from home, I noticed that the Check Engine light was on. Bike was running fine though. I turned off the driving lights incase it was the charging system and continued on home. I noticed a bit of missing as I pulled onto my street. I made it to my driveway and hit the switch to turn the lights back on. Bike died instantly. Later analysis turned up a grounded stator. If it has to die somewhere, my driveway is a much better place than Suches. |
