Hey guy, i need some advice and i wont be a dick when you give it to me. I just touched up my frame. I had a scuff and bought the frame touch up paint from HD. its a perfect match. i bought the spray paint version. I taped off and coverd my whole bike. I just painted the one side that had the scuff and I let it fade at both ends and looks great. The middle where its completely coverd has areas you can see in the light from the spray lines. I went both ways and all I need to know is #1 How long do I wait to buff it out so the slight streaking blends? Also hats the best way to buff it out? Should I use armour all before I buff? Any advice other then my questions? Thanks in advance.

That paint is not a paint to Buff. Its a flat paint with very little or no Sheen. You spray it on and that it.

you dont buff the frames. they dont take kindly to it and neither will the paint. also the original coating will be all kids of messed up if you bump it with a buffer or wax.

it just is what it is now. or you recoat the whole frame.

One more question, how long after I paint it untill I can armourall it? That will probly unify the shading.

No chemicals for about at least 1 week. When you go out to your garage in the morning and it doesn't smell like chemical anymore, then you know that all of the solvents have evaporated and you are safe to coat it with something.

In multi-layer automotive applications (primer, base coat, clear coat), it usually takes over a month for the paint to fully cure. This should be much quicker tho.

Ok, let me re do this, I painted my frame do to a scuff, it did not go through the paint it was just a slight greyish black color from another bike tipping on to it. It was still smooth no knotches or groves in the paint. I did about two coats and now after looking at it again it looks rather good. I did not use a clear coat and its rough compaired to the rest of the painted frame. So am i soppost to clear coat it? What type of clear coat did buell use? yes, I armorall my whole bike except my tires, wind screen, headers, motor, etc. I do the plastics and the frame, and it works great. Thats neither here nor there. It makes my bike look perdy! I just need to know about the clear coat. Do I use a satin finnish, or a mat finnish, etc?

I would post a pic but it looks just like the other side, its much scrufier, not as smooth like it may need a clear coat. I just need to know what kind of clear coat, mat finnish, or satin finish???? Anyone? Itsd to dark to get a pic anyway. You cant really see the texture anyway it looks great its just the texture im worried about.

I took a pink new dry shop towel and basicaly just rubbed the newly painted area for like 20 min, and it looks just like the other side and the texture is now a bit smoother but still not the same. I am going to armourall the whole frame soon and will let you know how it looks. Im still so in aww over how perfect the color matches.

Remember.... your frame is powder coat. The spray paint you used is just a rattle can. Putting oily substance like that on that paint let alone fresh might open other problems. Thing is why are you putting armor all on your frame and everything. Its highly dirt attractive.

I used to say the same thing for years. It keeps it moisterised and it looks like it came off the show room floor. I just put a thin layer. My friend always over armor all
'ed everything and he used it on his buell i noticed how much better his always looked then mine. After seeing his about 20 times and realizing its actually protecting his bike from the elimints I tried it. Wow! IT poped! Mine is a diff color then my friends and after i used it once it looked like it was brand new. My girl noticed the diff at once. I have been doing it ever sense. If you over do it just like with any product it could attract more dirt, but if you apply it correctly it works wonders. I will use it untill i die. I have also tried many other kinds and found them to be of lesser quality. Its so quick and easy and it protects. To each his own. I also paint my pipe while others let theres rust so im in a diff leage then some as far as care goes. I garage and cover as well. I plan to keep my buell for life. If you read the bottle its made for all the surfaces i use it on. It just looks so good and rich. I also clean my bike about every two to three weeks. I have seen many buells that look dry and faded. Mine will never look like that. The body of my firebolt is plastic. And armor all works great on plastic. Try it out. Its not a waist of money. My bike is worth it. It also works great on the seat. My seat looks new. i also have a cyclone alarm on mine. I protect and take care of my bike. I also paid out the ass for the matching right side scoop which looks super cool. So i use the best on my bike when I can afford it.

Armor all works better. My bike looks great and I would never sell my Buell. You can put what ever crap you want on your bike. I finnished mine today and you cant tell it ever had a scuff, and you cant tell one side from the other. I only finnished this post so others who want cant see what works great. I just asked my neibor to tell me which side I painted and he looked from 4 inches away and could not tell a diff. Im done amd it turned out perfect. My bike looks great the way it is, I dont need to throw away thousands in a paint job and then sell it at a loss. I use my head when I invest money in my buell.
