My 12R has issues and replacing the engine looks to be my best bet, however finding one is a problem. One idea i had was to buy another cheap Buell, take the engine for myself then part out the rest to cover the costs. Im looking at a nice 06 Lightning SS here. Im assuming it would be a lot easier just converting it into a Firebolt than removing the engine to go into mine.

How do the SS's handle. Anyone ever made a Firebolt SS?

It can be done. I know for sure Jornum1 put Firebolt front and tail on an SS. Front goes on without much fuss, but the tail section requires special brackets to make it line up, it also requires you get creative with the electronics.

Not to hijack Paul's thread, but could you transplant just the front fairing to an SS without going to clip-ons, etc.?

Vospertw, Yes you can the only issue you are going to run into is the ignition and figuring out how to mount it.

Thanks Firebolt. Not sure that would be better wind protection than a Palmer or other screen, but might be able to find one cheaper when someone parts out a bike.
