I have heard that the xb12 air box works on the xb9 is it worth it? How much hp-tq do you get? And how much? |

Makes a nice diff for very little money (say $25-30). Recommend it.

In combination with the K&N Air Filter, it is worth the money. The low end stays the same but since the flow is better, the mid range really wakes up. I run K&Ns on everything I have anyways since the filter can be cleaned and re-oiled provided they are not abused. I have had some for over 8 years and they are still in great shape. |

I just got my Bolt back from getting the ecm and filter installed. I also put the 12 airbox in. Rode it hard for the first time today. It runs so well it is amazing. Once I hit about 5,500 rpm or so, it runs like mad. |

Some people use simple green to clean them. But you still need the oil. The K and N recharge kit is less than 20 bucks and will clean and re-oil an XB filter probably 6 times. |

Ortega, use the search function, that's why it's there. The number has been posted many times. |

I just installed a 12 airbox cover on my otherwise stock 9R. Should the snorkel stay or go? Thanks! |

the snorkel should go but to clarify the snorkel is the plastic part in the air passage in the frame not the flexible velocity stack I am not trying to be condescending I just noticed in the past some people were confused on which part was the snorkel rippin' up the prairies edited by buggie on May 18, 2004 |

Thanks! Actually, I already took the snorkel out. I haven't really noticed any difference in power, just intake noise.

with the 12 cover you will notice a much smoother powerband with wicked throttle response

Thanks for the comment on my profile pics. Those were taken at a Battletrax hosted by the Harley/Buell Cycle Center where Dave S used to work. Thank you to those guys! My local dealer is one of those who barely tolerates Buells, so I'm glad there's somebody relatively close by when I need something. |

It think the 12 lid K+N filter snorkel removal are the best bang for the buck.$100.00= smoother/throatier intake, and washable filter. Just my $.02 take it or leave it. |

They got me for 2 hours to install both items, do the tps and adjust my primary. I had not choice since I am working too much lately. |

Buggie is right about the noticeably smoother powerband with wicked throttle response. And I agree with JohnnyXB9 100%, that combo is the best bang for the buck for '03 XB's. Leeaw, that's too bad about having to work too much. They must have spent a lot of time trying to figure out the tps and adjust the primary. The snorkel/filter/airbox job is about a 2 minute job. I like Buggie's photo too. Mike. |

Do you have reset the tps when you put the xb12 air box and k@n filter on? |

over time the ecm will take in all the inputs and adjust the mixture as required it will take a few miles to do this so be patient |

tps reset required: after fitting an ecm to your bike that hasn't been fitted to your bike before, or at specified maintenance intervals.

TPS reset is not required except at 1000 miles to account for slight change in adjustment due to wearing in of throttle mechanism or whenever you install an ECM that is new to your bike, or whenever you fiddle around with the TPS itself. Other than that, a reset does NOTHING for you. |

I hope you're right Blake but the '04 Lightning models FM says to "zero throttle position sensor (TPS)" every 10,000 miles marked with a code "A" for "adjust". |
