Hey guys,

Ive read a few articles on break in (one from here, one from S&S) and they mention not "lugging" a motor during break in. I have an XB12S, that Im trying to break in for long lasting durability....I rode her home, and had her in 5th a few times but not exceeding 100KM/h. At what RPM in 5th is an XB12 lugging? Would 2600RPM in 5th (or 90KM/hr) be lugging for that motor?

Just trying to get it right....

Tanx,

Jack

Lugging is a combination of rpm and load. Try to run the bike with less than 1/3 of the throttle. If it revs easy and you can ride it like that you are not lugging it. Even if you are a 2500 rpm in 4th gear and you apply full throttle you are lugging it.
Just stay easy on the throttle and you are fine.

If you're in any gear and doing 1500-1800 rpms and get on the gas a little bit you will feel a bit of a shake from the engine. THAT is lugging.
