No issues at all here... Just washed it this weekend and found nothing out of the ordinary. What sort of water repellent did you use? Did your friend use the same stuff? Why do you need to repel water from the muffler?

We both used scotoiler(spelt wrong)ment to be made for the job, they are sprayed to keep the good old British weather at bay as they use Rock Salt on our roads(thanks chaps). They are going on the welds and stripping around the rear straps .

The stuff Carrot is on about is simular to WD40 but only water based, I've been using it for months on my 9s,to keep the worst of the British weather at bay, after all the finish of the components is not the 9's strongest point!

In 7mts i've owned the bike, the oil-cooler lines have rusted, every nut/bolt has corroded, the race-can is rusting, the front brakeline is rubbing the fork leg finish away, the footpegs are slowly going white, the wheel rims need constant attention.

But cest la vie,I love the bike to bits.......

I ride year round in Northern California and found the tire wall blackeners to work the best. They are basically an light oil coating.
No-Touch Wet-N-Protect in a purple spray can is the brand. Owned by Permatex, produced in Salon, Ohio.

I live in California????
