I'd be more concerned with a lot of shavings on the drain plug than 'dirty' oil.

I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the bike. I just spray the primary down with PAM...

I didn't think we had to sacrifice virgins to our bikes. Man, that's gonna be tough.

I've heard really good things about Astroglide.
Apparently if you use it in the crankcase you can fit over-sized pistons without boring out the cylinders.

I ran Amsoil in the race bike this season. 8 race weekends, with one oil change mid-season. No problems to report.

I just put Amsoil in my Uly (previous owner had Royal Purple in it). I don't foresee any problems.

I was running Sny3 in my 08. I had a stator go bad. Not sure if it was oil related or not. It was still under warranty. I no longer have the bike.

On my 98 I still use dino oil.

Worried about the service being done? Paint-markers are your friend. I just put a dot on the oil filter, almost out of sight. If it is still there after an oil change (Houston, We have a problem). Was it Ronald Reagan that said Trust but verify.?

I'm thinking of doing a winter change to 10w40 since i ride thru the winter whenever i can, and the manual sez 10w40 is excellent for cold weather starts at less than 40 degrees. Figure why not - change it for fresh in spring anyway, back to 20w50. Anybody try this already? I figure since it's in the manual, why not go with it. i don't think i ride long enough in winter for it to cause any issues - just gives easier starts.

Yes I also do 10w-40, and stuff a rag in the oil cooler.

I use Mrs. Butterworth. She seems to run really sweet with that in it.

when it comes to oil, i only use the best. That's why i use at least 91 octane. It costs more so that means it's better.

In all seriousness I have run olive oil in one of my two stroke bikes before. Worked just fine, but made me hungry.

Speaking of vegetable oil...back in the day I ran Castor oil/methanol in a few 2 smokes...at the time castor was the only oil that would reliably stay mixed with methanol.

Castor penetrates the metal...the only way to completely remove it is by machining it off...but it leaves carbon deposits from hell when it burns.

I ran castor oil in 2 28cc motors on a bicycle. Mixed it with nitromethanol and propanol. All hooked up to 2 24" pusher props on the back.

10w40 worked well for me last winter and I'm getting ready to switch back over to it i a week or two.
