Either a short in the wiring to the fan, or it's time to replace the fan. Does it rattle when it runs? |

A fuse can randomly blow. If the new fuse blows right away you have a problem. There's no reason to put a third or a fourth fuse in until you've made some effort to fix the problem. You need to look at the wiring to and from the fan. You're looking at the Bk/O, Y/Br before the connector and the Y and Bk after the connector. Look especially where the cables go through between the fan body and the frame. |

Mine starting doing the same thing. Turned out the fan was bad...why? The rear rocker cover was leaking oil and had gummed up the works. Up shot was a new fan and gasket, only good thing was it was all cover by the dealer under warrenty. |

Yeah, test it first. Probably gonna need a new one though. I did, easy to do yourself. |

It sounds very much like a wire in the fan circuit is chaffed and the bare wire is hitting something, grounding it to 12 volt and overloading the fuse. I can only speak for myself but the first thing I would do would be to do as Iamarchangel says and search through the harness. It is a severe pain in the arse but once found it's an easy fix. Just wrap the little sucker and try to keep it from rubbing again. |

I did all the test when my fuse blew. It was the fan though. But as my Pap always said, it's better to be sure before you have to go and speend hard earned(economicly hard time hard earned)money. |

i had the same problem on a recent ride. after searching the wires and connections, i chased the problem down. it was actually pretty simple. the plastic boot from one of the vacuum fitting had come off and due to my terrible luck, it lodged in the fan and jammed it. everytime the engine got hot enough to activate the fan, it overloaded the circuit and popped the fuse. may want to check that. |
