Has anyone used a lever such as above with NO little ball on the end? The one above is mint, but I have one that I shaved the ball off b/c it was laid down. (post pic of it tonight) So I need to know if not having that little ball on the end (that EVERY lever I have ever seen has) will cause some hand slipage or any other negative effects? Also, i'm looking for a CRG regular lever for the clutch (left) side if anyone has one that has been down and scratched up. I plan on getting them powder coated. So trying to find a cheap one soon... THANKS! -Robert www.xblights.com |

I cut my factory levers down on my firebolt so I would quit breaking them. Worked fine for me. |

i think the little round thing on the end is to reduce the risk of the lever impaling you during a get off. i would imagine that is part of tech inspection for race tracks (safety issue). could be wrong, though. |

i have run all my xb's with 2 finger shorty levers(factory levers cut VERY short) ive never had a problem with them. i actually prefer it that way. the only reason i now have something different on my 1125 is because i decided to run a nesba track day and they wouldnt let me run without a ball on the end of the levers so i got the pazzo shorties |

It's in CMRA's rulebook, last I looked. Tech inspection @ a Trackday is dependent upon their rules, what class, etc., etc. |

Here is what i was talking about. I bought a lot of stuff a while back and the throttle side CRG above came with it. I figured, since im about to send some stuff off to Grand Stand Designs to get coated, I might try and coat a set of levers and being too cheap to pay the $180 for a new set, thought I might be able to just cut the scratched end off and be good to go. So if anyone has a clutch side CRG or hell any other aftermarket brand they would like to sell for cheap that has been scratched from a wreck or what not, let me know! Color does NOT matter! I'm going to smooth the end up before it gets coated. I guess it could be a safety issue! Didnt think about getting stabbed by it if something did happen. But since im cutting it shorter I think it will be okay. Thanks for all the input!!! -Robert xblights@yahoo.com (Message edited by rah7777777 on September 18, 2008) |

I broke my stock clutch lever. I used it until I got my new one. I did not notice a difference until I was stuck in traffic, wanting that little extra bit of leverage. |

well I have a free spirits soft clutch (from Trojan) to install soon, so the leverage won't be an issue. but very good point! |

NO ball on end of lever a bad waiting to happen.Been around some form of dirt bike racing for years. When you have a get off you dont know where you will end up at but you dont wont the end of that broke lever ripping you a new a hole.REPLACE LEVER.Their cheaper than doctor bills. |

i have repaired my broken PAZZO clutch lever with good success . find a small "roll" pin (1/16" dia.approx.) drill two holes into lever and ball end (must be fairly accurate)holes should be 1-2 sizes bigger than the roll pin (because of the impossibility of hole alignment) i cut the roll pin into two 1/2" long pieces ,insert into holes , glue with JB weld. (you generally do not apply much finger pressure to the very end of your lever .) |
