LED taillight - going to order one sometime this week, just want to get everyone's opinions first. The best, the worst? The upsides, the downsides? Complexity of install, exc.

-Links to the product are helpful too.

As always... thanks.

Robert will take care of you. Many options available. A few of your choices are plug and play. Others will require a LED flasher relay.

Well You have a few choices. I know its not good for a competitor to speak openly about other companies.....but hell, why not

#1 XB Lights. I own and run XB lights and feel we have a very good product!
With very good support!

#2 American Sportbike. Al is a great guy and sells the Heavycycles brand LED light. Which I have only heard positive things about.

#3 Clear Alternatives.........JUNK!
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/379540.html?1217092909

all the LED lights you see on ebay are the Clear Alternatives brand...........
but from what I have seen, you might as well keep the stock bulb versus that brand.

Thats all that come to mind. I'm sure others might know more..

Hope it helps!

XB Lights all the way.

When I first got my bike my friends told me how dim the tail light looked in direct sunlight. After Robert installed the XB Lights assembly I was asked "What did you do? It's very bright in direct sunlight now".

I've had my rear LED tail from "XBLights" for almost a year. I've been through snow, rain, summer heat, and it's still working good, I have no complaints. even had a few people comment on how bright it is.

Anyone have any other shots that I don't have on the reviews section of the site? if so post 'em up! although, I know its difficult to get a good picture as it just jacks the camera up a bit :-)

Ride safe!

I just installed my tail light from XBLights. I am very happy to say the least. I highly recommend him and his products. Plus he's a sponsor here.

I also have a tail light from XBlight and I am very happy with it.

But .... in France you can find the same on :

http://www.minineon.com/detail.php?productId=1506

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/matis84/typon.jpg

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/matis84/structure.JPG

It's a new product, they just copied XBlight's tail light and it's coming without the clear lens

They stole my 2-strip running light design!!!
But I guess it is to be expected when its the coolest running light design out there,

But fortunately they are more like a knock off of Clear Alternatives.

Looking them over they.....

#1 use the cheap crappy LEDs
#2 have no current regulation
#3 Have no safety circuitry (incase of the unexpected)

but you can't win them all

Did someone mention XBlights?

I'm still in lust with mine.

I'd post a pic of the brake light applied but my camera can't handle it : D

Yea mate, it'd be hard to pass up on XBlights. I get comments on the clear lens/LED set up heaps, and if Rob would make em for other nipponese type bikes, he'd have a heap more customers!
The product is good, the service outstanding, and it's piss easy to install.
If you were going to get one, Rob is your answer.

"if Rob would make em for other nipponese type bikes, he'd have a heap more customers!"

That's true. One guy at work scoffed at the price but once he saw it, he asked where he could get one. He has a Valkyrie.

Well......maybe one day!

Hell I'm still trying to get the other buell models up and running.... But thats a long process in its own right.

But in all honesty, for the time being I think i'll just stick with the Buells.
Our bikes are so unique and kick ass, I don't know if I could put the same love into a light that was for a jap bike

We have some at BuellerParts that we had developed by Ecliptech. They ate specialist automotive engineers who are contracted to make products for production and high performance vehicles.

Here is a pic of an insert fitted on my bike, and the stock setup with a bulb sitting on the seat of my bike.

We have a promotion for BadWeb. You can check it out here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/367210.html?1213281484 on our sponsors page.

So I guess there are 5 options out there then.

-XB Lights (Me)
-American Sport Bike
-Clear Alternatives
-That crap company who knocked off my 2 strip running design (posted above)
-Ecliptech (petebueller)

It also covers a vast price range. I have only seen my lights (XB Lights) and clear alternatives in person. I can tell you clear alt. sucks!
not sure about the rest...well the one above that copied my 2 strip design above probably stinks as well b/c they are using crap LEDs.
Ecliptech might be good?? Never heard any feedback on them.
and It is well spoken that AL's over at American Sport Bike are very good.

All in all, I would stick with XB Lights or American Sport Bike. Maybe ecliptech after we hear some input from buyers.
the others are poop! And really stay away from those LED "bulbs" I have yet to see one be brighter then a filament bulb. And even worse then those are the clear lens setups with the red painted filament bulb! very weak!!!

Thank You all who have supported XB Lights and continue to do so. You guys make it worth all the extra effort and hassles!

So for anyone looking into an LED setup, I hope this thread has been useful. Just search around for what fits you best. Some are a bit more $$ then others. And probably for good reason.

Keep it safe out there!

The more options the better! To a point, haha!

I'd say with possible 3 good choices
(1-XB Lights, 2- American Sport Bike, 3-Ecliptech)

and 3 crappy choices
(1-clear alt, 2-minineon, 3-plug in led bulb)
they are at a good point these days.

I wish we could get all of them together for a photo shoot in the exact conditions to show them off. This way people can see first hand how crappy the 3 crappy ones are!

Keep it safe everyone!!
