Finacee' started her Scg before waiting for the check engine light cycle to turn off. Then the light came on and stayed on even after repeated start-ups. I disconected the batttery once we got home and started the bike (following accepted procedure) and rode for about 8 miles. The light did not return. Question is, will the Check Engine Light stay on if the bike is just started up without awaiting for the appropriate cycle?

I had that happen once. It did stay on for awhile (had to drive it back home), but after sitting parked for awhile, it went out on its own without removing the batt. No error codes were recorded.

Swordsman you say it happened once. Is that because you just turned the ignition on and then started the bike and didn't let the check engine light turn out before starting?
