Today I put 50 miles on a black XB12S. Compared to my XB9S, there are some noticeable differences.
'04 XB12S in Seattle
For one, the motor really accelerates with authority. It made more noise than on the 9S. It also runs hotter. The rear fan was on a good portion of the ride, something that rarely happens on my 9S. Too bad the new belt won't fit on the '03's pulley.

Nice job Erik Buell! The XB12 should attract the tube-framer Buellers that scoffed at the XB9's "low hp".

But for me, I have no need of upgrading to the 12. At least for now... :]

Misato, thanks! Good to be home from Germany. Yeah, it was Spencer who got the bike ready for me. Did you know that DHD is the top Buell seller on the West Coast?

Check out my ride notes on the Yahoo Buell_XB group. Basically, I like the 12s a lot. But not enough to trade-in my 9s.

Steve, sorry no 12R's. I think the 12S will be their top seller, but I have to say that most people would (should? could?) be satisfied with the 9's.

The kickstand is new and is a little weird at first with the extra spring action. Not quite the "jiffy" stand like the Harley, though.

Extending the warranty to 2 years is a BOLD statement from Buell. Now, will they voluntarily extend my '03 warranty? (fat chance) :|
