I know it must be out there somewhere but I can't find a year by year history of the improvements to the XB line. Anyone have a line on what changed year by year?

Thanks

2003 - XB9R, XB9S and XB9SL introduced.

2004 - XB12R and XB1S introduced. Redesigned belt drive.

2005 - XB12SCG and XB9SX introduced. Fork stanchion diameter increased to 43mm except on the SCG. XB9S and XB9SL dropped.

2006 - XB12SS and XB12X introduced. Swingarm was redesigned. New drive belt. Air nolonger routed through a hole in the left side of the frame into the air box.

2007 - XB12STT introduced. XB12X gets a lower seat. Switched to Pirelli Diablo tires. Air box inner cover opened up to increase air flow.

Somewhere along the line, they made the transmission smoother, but I don't know which year.

Thanks Erik, nice to have all the info in one place.

The tranny was upgraded in 2006 if I recall properly.

Perhaps others could fill in Erik's excellent post here and there, with things such as running updates on the front isolator, (2006?), spark plug wires,(2005?), or whatever.

Nice post.

along with the tranny upgrade in 2006 they also upgraded the oil pump (new gear).

If you want to you can read all the press releases on Buells site.

http://www.buell.com/en_us/news_events/pressreleas e.asp

They have archives that go back to 2003.

Excellent. Thanks much. I didn't think to look to the website. Too late and lazy I suppose.

The airbox rerouting also occurred in the 2006 model year, not 2005...

...I can't find a year by year history of the improvements to the XB line.

That's because there isn't one. The best year of the XBs was 2003, try as they might they cannot improve on it...
