To all the newbies around here I would like to say welcome!
I am happy that you have found both Buell and this forum.
However, I have to say many of you are on my nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Before starting a new thread do some research.
Believe it or not most of your questions have been answered before.
Reflector removal, exhaust comparisons, tire selections...it has all been answered again and again.
Check out the Knowledge Vault or take advantage of the Search feature.
Your enthusiasm is appreciated, but you are
detracting from the integrity of the board and quite frankly making it less enjoyable for the rest of us.
I enjoy an insightful dialog just as much as most...however, how to tie ones shoes does not qualify.
Thank you for taking these thoughts into consideration.

This is a problem that all forums face
and unfortunately, one that will never be solved short of deleting all re-posted questions which is not much of a solution.

So you really just have to roll with it.

I don't mind cutting the recently arrived brothers a bit of slack.

I have changed my mind on a couple of matters, so I don't mind revisiting even commonly asked questions from time to time. Keeps the board fresh and the mind open.

Maybe a more positive way to look at it, is to help these new board member learn how to "fish". Give them a few tips on owning a Buell and coming to this board that has a HUGE depth of knowledge to share.

Tips like;

Buy the Service Manual for your bike. It's worth it's weight in gold.

Buy the Parts Manual for your bike. Again it's worth it's weight in gold.

And since you have the manuals you will be able to look up the correct nomenclature for part names which will pay off huge when using the search function here on the Bad web.

If you do get stuck on something do feel free to post your question. There is always one or two "old bulls" around that have the patients to answer the same old questions again.

A FAQ section here would help a whole lot. This is a GREAT bulletin board, but it is not exactly the most organized mountain of info on the net.

For tuber info, I find the X-1 Files site much easier to use to find info on a specific topic. Once I narrow down what I'm looking for there, I'll do a search here if I need more info. If I still need more info, then I'll post a question.

I'm a Buell newbie, but not new to internet forums whatsoever.

Having said that, I can say that some questions are worth asking again. Many times, the archives on forums don't contain up to date data. Sometimes new knowledgeable people join the forums, but don't sort through the archives to answer old posts.

I don't think it hurts for a question to be asked again. If the answer is already on there, then place a link to the answer for the new folks.

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask for fear of being chastised.

Now is this the kind of retard that
drools and rubs shit in his hair
and all that, 'cause I have trouble
eatin' around that kind of thing.
Just like I am about antique
furniture and midgets. I can't so
much as drink a glass of water
around a midget or a piece of
antique furniture. Same thing with
a droolin' retard.

Stealth, if you don't want to read the topic, then don't read it. A lot of the topics I have posted on I have found in the KV, but I find the depth of information lacking or range of products limited.

What a joke, this is a Buell XB forum, correct? What other kind of things would you post? Some of you are real anal retentive and need to get out. What you are telling the newbies is that they shouldn't bother posting because you don't have the will power to not look at a post you have already seen.

if you don't want to read the topic, then don't read it.
I am familiar with this practice.
It is too bad I have to sort through a big pile of already answered Buell5hit to find a thread worth reading.
I believe this is discouraging to those that actually have relevant information to add to the knowledge base of the forum.

you don't have the will power to not look at a post you have already seen.
I would suggest avoiding comments directed at me personally when making assumptions.
Or telling me what I am telling the newbies...

LOL....... that is great John88030, really appreciate Your humor. When I have no interest in a thread I just skip over it. I do try and read all the posts on the XB Board because as a noob my thirst for knowledge about Buell, even if its repeat info, helps me feel better educated about Buell. I agree, like anything else, reading the directions for use and applying them can answer some questions and also enhance and contribute to the experience offered here. I also believe in and I do support the efforts here by buying Products from the Board Sponsors.

You know I read every plug thread there was here and elsewhere and learned something different from each of them. If one plug thread had been missing, I never would have known the best heat range and why. If another had been missing, I wouldn't have known the right gap and why. Yeah it has all been answered again and again, but with different information each time. As for exhaust comparisons, if it has all been done, why the upcoming shootout? There is always something new to say about anything, and there is always a different way to ask a question that gets us thinking in new directions.

i made a similar suggestion with regards to drummer posts, as every second day the same questions WRT to drummer are asked and there is one or 2 positive feedback posts made.

Like i stated i have absolutely nothing against drummer but as soon as i made a suggestion to compile all the drummer posts in one area too free up the rest of the board i was called a troll and a drummer basher.

to me it would make perfect sense to have a dedicated drummer section in the KV where all drummer questions and feedback can be put and then if someone wants drummer info its all their in one easy to find section. I think that my suggestion is a complement to drummers vastly popular product with the fact that it demands its own section.

But yep im a troll and a drummer basher, good luck to you mr stealthxb but it looks like your getting the same treatment for your suggestion.

i wont bother making any suggestions in future as its seems like an open cheque for the smart ass members to come out of the woodwork and take shots at your expense.

I have no problem with stupid questions.
I am trying to encourage some restraint when starting new threads.
It is selfish to start a new thread without first doing some research.
If the plug data was contained in one thread you would not have to worry about missing something.
The information management of this site sucks.
Blake tries and tries but the forum etiquette around here with respect to keeping any type of logic leaves a lot to be desired.

why the upcoming shootout?
Do I really need to entertain this nonsense?

When I first found this site .... not knowing all the site features and needing info regarding this or that ... I'm sure I asked questions that had already been posted before ... I'm sure a lot of us did the exact same thing ... Nobody got on my case for it ... they answered my questions and provided links to other posts to answer my questions ... Why can't we offer the same courtesies to the new members now? There has been a lot of new members to this board lately which means there are more Buell Brothers out there ... Brother is family ... let's treat them that way.
