Just curious what brand/model of front brake pads everyone is using on their XB. I'm looking for something that performs better than OEM. Suggestions?

EBC or DP HH pads both get great milage and are top notch performers.

I am very happy with the Lyndall Gold from American Sport Bike.

Just make sure to follow the break in instructions: ten hard stops from twenty mph followed by ten hard stops from forty.

BTW, my stock pads were just about toast at 10k miles, and I wouldn't say that I was particularly hard on them.

LRB are the flat out finest, use them hard, they are the best!

In case it wasn't clear, LRB=Lyndall Racing Brakes, and Derek means the Lyndall Golds.

We sell a lot of them, and get rave reviews back. The vast majority of the folks that try them like them, usually a LOT, and buy them again when the time comes. The LRB Golds get rid of the uneven deposition layer that sintered pads are notorious for, and the have excellent feel. We sell Ferodo's, EBCs, and Lyndalls, and I have no problems recommending any of them. But I run the Lyndalls personally.

My stock pads crapped out at just under 5000 miles and I am on my second set.
I have wanted to try some other brands...
but I have heard that due to the alloy used in the perimeter brake, other pads will cause excessive wear/damage. Please tell me this isn't true.
thanks

I killed the stock pads at about 8400 miles. I tried the EBCs next. They were okay, but wore a tad unevenly and could be a little grabby at times. I swapped pads at 15,000 with a set of Ferodos that I bought from Al. The Ferodos bedded in a bit better than the EBCs and I haven't noticed any grabbiness with the new pads. Of course, this is all subjective. I measured the rotor thickness and run-out during my 15,000 mile maintenance and both were well within spec. I brake hard and I trail brake through corners routinely.
