cut a 12 lid and put in new K & N filter
pulls wheels for powder coating (black)
Put on new seat cowl (if skyguy mailed it to me, havent got an email back for a few days?!)

Then do a big burnout for fun making a smiley and take pics of the whole process and finished bike for you guys!

I'm sorry but being a Bueller myself I missed the part where "pointless" comes in?

You need to do some thinking on how to keep your bike from running too lean. With that set-up and no way to add fuel, you're flirtin' with disaster.

because a 9s doesn't use a 'points type' ignition?

im going to run a race ECM, but being winter still i ened up not ordering it quiet yet. I will have it before it warms up enough to go for a ride of any decent length.

Im aware of the leaning out problem, which will only get worse with the addition of the wet nos system that dave is looking into for me! : )

SO why do some posts say that the odie pipe and k&n are fine and others say that it will run to lean?
I really want an odie pipe, already did the k&n and cut airbox, so I want to make sure I don't mess up my bike.
Don't mean to hijack your thread but it seems relevant since those are your planned mods.

well more then likely it will run lean, common sense will tell you that by increasing the air flow thoughout the whole bike (intake/exhaust) but keeping the same ecm (fuel staying the same) that your bike will run lean. Im not sure how much the stock ecm and modify itself for this, but im sure it will change a bit according to what the bike needs. So in all, the bike will run lean, however it may not run so lean that it will not function correctly.

People are mearly saying that for BEST perfomance and correct air/fuel mixture a race ecm should be used.

The difference is Buell_892 hasn't got the Race ECM.
Open air box = lean + K&N = leaner + Odie Pipe = Very Lean.
A Race ECM adds fuel to compensate for more air flow.
As does a TFI or PC3.

Umm... It could run rich too...

If the system requires more fuel at 3500 than at 2200 or 4400 and you settle the AFV at 3500, then it'll run rich in the other areas... Likewise... If you settle the AFV at a spot that requires less fuell (comparatively to the stock setup) at 3500 then it could be lean everywhere else...

Get a PCIII or a direct link.

stick with the race ecm. Too much screwing around with the other set ups. I run the race ecm with NO problems.

I suppose you know that you need to remove the wheel bearings in order to powder coat the wheels.

This isn't rocket science, but you do need the proper tool and/or experience to do it correctly, otherwise you can ruin the wheels.

Some people just go ahead and replace the bearings while they are at it: the the bearings are not too expensive.

yes i knew this, if i were to leave them, when you bake the wheels after powder coating it will ruin the bearings.

Thanks for the heads up tho.

If it were me, I'd leave the bearings in, and change them after the powder coat, rather than removing them before the powder coat.

is the 06 a bit different in that it already has the cut air box and air induction behind the fuel filler? In other words, I put an Odie pipe on but that is all. still running everything else stock and made a small assumption that they had a more agile ECM with more air coming in. How do you tell if your bike is running too lean as a result of an Odie pipe?
