Greetings Fellow Buellers! I'm an older rider (45 y.o.) so this summer I bought a new, more comfortable streetbike to replace my '08 1125R. I tried to sell my Buell outright through cycletrader & Craigslist but everyone tried to lowball me on it so now I have 3 bikes; my '00 CBR600RR (trackbike), the Buell and the new streetbike (Ducati). I would love to sell the CBR and use the money to convert the Buell for track duty, but am concerned about (1) how expensive it will be to convert it (track plastics mostly) and (2) repair-ability in the event I drop it. Just wanted to get some fellow enthusiasts' take on converting a VERY nice, low mileage (5,700 mi.) Actually, in stock trim the Buell is one of the less expensive bikes to repair. The pods are $100ish. Put the passenger pegs back on the bike, use low profile spools or axle sliders, and go for it. | ||

I just got a set of pre-rashed bodywork off of ebay and installed the headlight fillers from EBR. Super cheap. No need for the full kit. No chain is also a plus (or a minus if you are really racing). | ||

V twins are easier to ride o the track. Less persuasion by the rider compared to a I4 | ||

I am selling my 1125R track bike to raise money for this racing the 1190 this season. I will be replacing the frame and repainting. '09 motor with '08 stator, Showa race suspension from EBR, belt drive, 3 bearing rear wheel, EBR front brake mod, Flexiglass Gen2 race skins, race wiring harness, EBR race exhaust, Race ECM. This was a test bike, so no title. Track only.  I won't be able to get to the repair until after the first of the year, but if anyone is interested, shoot me PM. No price yet, but It will be a sweet deal. Tell me what color you want. Also selling a fully race prepped SV650 if anyone is interested. Great first track bike. | ||

Thanks guys appreciate the input! I'm really leaning towards converting it as I know it would be a BLAST to ride on the track. I've always felt too big on my CBR (6'4", 255lbs) and the suspension on the Buell is already set-up for aggressive riding. I'd really prefer to get some track plastics for it though... so besides Catalyst who else makes decent fairings and where's the best place to buy from? | ||

The above bodywork is from Flexiglass in Canada. It eliminates the fans, lowering weight and gives better cooling and aerodynamics on the track. Requires some work to fit, but worth it. | ||

those fairings are the shit still working on modding them to run fans to run on the street but bike runs so cool and smooth at speed by far best track fairings for our bike | ||

I have a full set of 1st gen Flexiglass that keeps original fans. Also a stock tail section and front fairing if you're interested. And a cool Sebimoto front fender. | ||

Other than the pod covers do you even need the rest of the bodywork on the bike? I'd run it fully nekkid. | ||

Thanks again guys! Rodrob, after seeing the intro to Crotchrocket.tv I was very moved by your story and very appreciative to see such a dedicated Buell rider! I salute you my friend!  I typically ride Novice class wherever I go [MCRA (St.Louis) & STT (IN)] and I'm assuming I'd at least need a belly pan. Although I could do a little fabricating I don't want to do any fabricating, so I'm looking for something that would pretty much bolt right on. Those are the first gen Flexiglass fairings. Same as the ones I have sitting at home still unpainted. I went with those because they let me keep the stock pod look and fans. You will need either an aftermarket exhaust or have to do some serious cutting to fit the stocker. I pretty much only use my 1125R for the track. I laid it over at VIR and it only cost me about $200 to fix. New side pod and new case cover since I destroyed my firt one. But, bar sliders, axle sliders, and having the passenger pegs on it took the worst of it. I swear by the case savers. | ||

I can personally testify the clutch side is good from around 70 mph to 0 mph  Don't know how to convert that to feet but I bought a new one to run on the road and just smeared some JB weld on the damaged one and use it on the track.It didn't rub all the way through. |
