Last week while riding my 09 cr the speedo went to zero. After I stopped and turned the bike off and then on again it worked fine. I've been riding it the past few days without any issue. Today it went to zero again. I pulled over and turned it off then on again and it still didn't work. Just before I pulled into my driveway it started working again. It's obviously intermittent so are there any connections to look for or is it the instrument cluster about to crap out totally? If it is going out should I take the race ECM and or exhaust off before taking it in?

It's not the cluster, is the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) it's either loose or going bad.

Right side of motor, top of the clutch, toward the rear. Has a silver heat wrap around it, kinda looks like aluminum wrap maybe. It's a single wire I think.

I found a sensor coming out of the bottom of the right side that has had the wire melted from the exhaust. I was hoping this was it but you're saying it's on top?
