I went to a K&N. I am glad I checked it was a little dirty. Bike has 8,000 miles on it. I was getting a slight hissing noise on start up. When bike got hot hissing noise was real faint. The culprit was a loose rubber mount for the air filter which allowed some air through the air box. Installed the K&N and now the bike is purring and no hissing noise.

It's not to hard to get the rubber bands twisted. Sometimes when they un-twist they will slip off. I make it a habit to push them down into their groove.

Yep when I checked it last time. I dont know how many miles ago or what not but I guess it was not snug in that groove this time I made sure they were not going to pop out.

No, but they are good for 1,000,000 miles.

I dont feel much difference. As long as you take care of it with the cleaner and oil. No replacement ever.

Also to add it does fit a lot better than the stock air filter. K&N did a good job with fitment.
