So I'm leaving the office tonight and go to get on my bike. I fire her up, get geared up, everything is all good.

I sit down and notice the clutch lever feels WEIRD.

I go to put her in gear & she won't shift.

WTF?!?!?!?!

I shut her down & get off. Some @$$hat dropped my bike and put it back up so "I wouldn't notice."

Nothing major damage wise. Will likely need a new clutch lever and I'm about ready to mount up my homemade GP shift, just p!$$es me off that someone would drop my bike & not even leave a note to say "Sorry."

I really want to find them now & punch them in the face for being such an @$$hat and not having the decency to tell me.

Thank you for the cheap therapy BWB.

P.S. The Dark Horse Moto sliders front & rear took a hit as well, but can be cleaned up. The el-cheapo bar end slider took a hit as well, but NBFD on it.

Thank you Keith for keeping my girl from getting hurt worse by someone else's idiocy. If you're reading this & have been debating about getting Keith's sliders, stop debating & just do it. They pay for themselves the 1st time some inconsiderate @$$hat messes with your baby.

Sorry to hear about that. That really sucks!

Something similar happened to me in NYC with my Blast.

I came out and didn't notice anything odd, until I looked in my mirror and noticed it was not adjusted right. I figured that someone had brushed against it, so I went to adjust it and it just fell off. I also noticed that the bodywork was scratched.

Luckily, I had parked directly in front of a trash dumpster and the bike did not fall all the way over. From what it seemed like, someone had just backed up over it and smashed it against the dumpster.

Some people just suck!

I hope you can get your parts quick and get back on the road.

Mike

P-squared,

I had somebody run over my 1125 in a parking lot on Thanksgiving day and just drive off. I looked out the window and saw her lying face down on the kick stand. I had about $1500.00 worth of damage. I have a buddy with a big BMW, on of those Iron Butt super-long-distance dudes. A former Army Colonel. He goes into our garage to go home after work and finds that his bike won't shift. Seems somebody was playing on his bike and broke his shifter lever off by standing on it. He wasn't too happy either. I'm sorry for your loss and truly understand how you feel. Just hang in there! They never say they are sorry...or anything else.

As far as the damage goes, it's nothing really major.

There are no impact marks that would indicate someone running into it.

The part that pisses me off is that it means someone was sitting on/standing by my bike & dropped it.

If I had been there, NBFD, as I would have given them permission to sit on it/take it off the kickstand.

The fact that someone disregards my personal property in such a manner & then does not own up to it is the part that really gets me. It would be like me breaking into random cars at lunchtime so I could sit in them.

I'll be raising hell at work tomorrow & checking with security to see if they have video. If they work for my company, I WILL find them. For their sake, I hope they own up to it before I do find them. If not, they will be looking for a new job.

Sorry to hear about the bike, it has happened to me before, came out and caught them on the bike (no damage) I grabbed them with one hand clamped around their throat and sugested that they get off. Bikes are considered attractive nuisances. I have other stories on the subject, I always wonder if they saw a car they liked, if they would get in it.

That really does suck!!! I had an older man back over my 76' 850T3 Guzzi. He ran over it so far that his license plate got ripped off and I found it on the bike! He broke the WIndjammer fairing right in the middle but, it was still rideable.

The LEO that worked the "accident" couldn't figure out how I knew "who dunnit" until I showed him the plate and the paint marks. Before I got home there was a message for me to visit the police station for more info.

Yep this one turned out better than I expected, hope yours does too.

what if the wind knocked it over and some kind soul set it back up?

Possible.

I thought the pods stuck out more than anything else for the insurance companies benefits, did they work?

Any idea how strong of a wind it would take to move a 450 pound bike off the sidestand? I am sure P would have mentioned hurricane force winds if plausible.

From my horizontal 1125r experience, the pod working brilliantly in conjunction with the axle slider. Those were the only two points of contact with the ground, along with the tip of the extended gear shifter from American Sport Bike. Cost me $35 bucks to replace the pod after selling the scratched one to someone that was collecting damaged plastics for his track bike.

No hurricane force winds yesterday. In fact, there was little to no wind. The bike has been fine before in this parking lot with winds in excess of 45mph.
So the 'kind soul' who picked it up is likely the same @$$hat that dropped it to begin with.

The pod took a hit, but you have to REALLY look to see where it scuffed the plastics. Looks like they did their job.

Re-bent the clutch lever last night so it's not so loopy, now I can wait for a new one. The shift lever is a different story. I couldn't get the bend out of it without a vise, so did what I could for now & replaced the toe peg on it.

Unless the prices are significantly different, looks like I'll be placing an order with American Sport Bike soon for some replacement parts.

Here's the list of things that got dinged:
*Clutch lever
*Shift lever
*Shifter toe peg
*Left footpeg (it now has a subtle bend to it)
*Left rear Dark Horse Moto slider
*Left front Dark Horse Moto slider
*Left El cheapo bar end slider
*Left pod

Today should be 'interesting' to see if anyone confesses.

P-squared before u go back to work grab the video camera ask a business or a place that has direct visuals on the parking spot then set the camera up and let it roll. u could give some one that works there video cassettes even if u wouldnt need it in 8 hours so they keep track of it. and pay them 30-50 bucks. maybe even throw in when we get him on film. so until u get him on film u wouldnt have to pay. or just pay him 10-15 everyday then 50 bucks if u get the guy.

the guy will surely stop to look at the damage more closely when he sees it next. odds are he'll go by there again. and have to check it out.

good luck hope that works oh and u could check local businesses for security footage.

Checked with Security today. They're reviewing their video files to see if they can find anything.

I'll check with the shop next door tomorrow, as I'm pretty sure they've got video on the lot too (local Yamaha dealer).

No one manned up today, so now it's time to catch the @$$hat & stick it to them.

Be glad you didn't crack the engine cover. My bike fell over because the kickstand spring fell off and Buell wont cover the cost even though its a known problem. Im done with Buells since they wont stand by their products.

How long was the kickstand spring product program out before your incident?

I assume you believe that another motorcycle company would warranty the work. Just curious what company?

At the park today for my nieces birthday. Having a great time until my brother walked over to inform me that someone decided to back over my bike, then drive off while he was headed over to see what happened... to bad the only description of the car is "silver". Really pissed off right now. It's finally nice out and my bike is out of commission for now!!!

Had a guy at the shop one day sitting on my S2. I walked out, said "wow, man, nice bike!". He mumbled something and wandered off...I'd seen him pull in with a relatively new F150 so I thought "what the heck". Door was unlocked, I made myself comfy and started testing the dash switchgear - radio, HVAC, all without starting the truck. He came *raging* out at me. I stepped out and politely, through a smile, held out the key to my S2. "Would you like to take *my* motorcycle for a ride since you looked nice and comfy on it?".

He didn't think it was nearly as funny as I did....but he always asks before he throws a leg over anything in the showroom now. And, he locks his doors

Ratbuell, I once had a "big biker dude" sitting on my 250 Ducati Dianah Mk III. We had gotten back from a Thursday night ride in OKC back in 1974. I had loads of fun toying with those Shovelheads on the straights and especially in the turns. Our top ends were about the same but I weighed a WHOLE lot less, and got there a whole lot faster (reverse-cone megaphones RULE!!!).

Anyway, I walked up behind him and whispered in his ear that I wouldn't put his girlfriend between my legs if, he didn't put my motorcycle b/t his! (Actually I said it loud enough for his GF to hear and the "President" (Mother) of his chapter)

I never imagined that such a big dude could jump so high, so fast!!! We all had a great laugh and I bought him a beer. It helped that I was a Bartender at that bar (The Phone Booth) and Mother liked me since I took care of his members at the bar.

That was back in the day when beer was $0.25 and woman could drink at 18. I wonder if "The Phone Booth" is still there???
