Turn signals are covered by warranty and no you can take warranty work to any HD/Buell dealer. | ||

My rear left went out on the way to sturgis, of course no one had it in stock, and the one dealer I went to said "It may be covered under warranty, but, if you wanted it fixed under warranty, we couldn't do it, that has to be done by your dealer" | ||

Anyone try to remove their rear turn signals and find the wiring harness buried in the side where you can't reach it? I'ts like the harness wasn't quite long enough. I'm going to have to remove the tail section to plug it back in. | ||

He should have said they WOULDN'T, not couldn't. Any dealer can do warranty work on your bike. They just don't want to deal with the paperwork for a "one-shot" deal. Z | ||

Josh - The wiring harness for the rear lights is routed along the outside of the sub frame on the left side. So yes you have to remove the tail section plastics to get to it. | ||

10 screws and you don't have to remove, only remove the seat and rear cowl screws and tailight bracket screws. lift the left side up until it separates from the undertail so that the wiring is exposed and you will see the wiring disconnects. replace turn signal and put the bike back together. #30 torx. it's a little tricky feeding the cowl around the undertail, but it is kind of like a ziplock bag. once it starts to zip it is easy. oh yeah, my first one burnt out yesterday. tim | ||

I just got my back left one replaced under warranty last week. Then tonight, my back right one went out!  They must have had a big batch of bad ones, cause it sounds like we are not alone. | ||

I had my left rear turn signal go out. I decided to go with mini-LEDs instead. They were rather inexpensive (half the price of one OEM for the pair). When I found it needed a LED flasher relay I was puzzled. The OEMs are LED too, so what gives? I did a closer examination of the OEM and found that in order to simulate bulb load they have resistors built into them. I think (personal opinion alert) that the resistors are failing. It is after all quite a buzzing environment at the end of those stalks. I'm happy with my new setup. The mini LEDs go well with the Tidy-Tail from Arenaline Moto | ||

Garrett, If your front right one is going double fast, it means your back right one has quite working (likely). | ||

Had my left rear replaced a couple of weeks ago. Waiting for the right side to go out now. What gives, I thought LED lights were good? I tried to take it apart to see if it was a circuit board problem but it was glued together. | ||

Left rear just went on me yesterday. Called and the dealer is getting one shipped to me. With the lead time on getting parts from Buell to the dealer, and them to then ship it to me, I sure hope the right one doesn't go out as soon as I get the left replaced... | ||

I'm half tempted to get one of those turn indicators that is integrated into the brake light, that way I'm not completely out on a turn signal when they go out | ||

I wish you guys had not mentioned anything about this. It seems like every time a subject comes up, my bike has the problem. If mine go out, I am going to replace with mini LEDs. Maybe I should just buy them now and switch them when the OEMs fail. | ||

hey guys, my rear left blinker went out too. i called up the dealer and he said he had to order the whole blinker housing to get the blinker, but in the meantime he said it would be fine if i took the blinker apart to fix/modify it to work in the meantime. upon troubleshooting, i found that the middle LED burned out. pretty odd, considering there is a LOT of protection on the actual blinker circuit board for these led's. anyway, i soldered a resistor across the middle LED which still gives me the two other LEDs in that housing functioning. for anyone interested in tinkering themselves, carefull getting the inner housing apart. it's hard to do without chipping the lens. if my new blinker goes out or the right one goes out, i'm just gonna solder up my own LED's and be done with it till they fix the problem. | ||

My wife just called and told me the replacement turn signal just arrived at the house from my dealer. I haven't had the chance to remove the old one yet, or even look at how the wiring is run. So, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips? For example, are the signals quick disconnect or will I have to cut the old wire and solder in the new? | ||

They're bullet type connectors inside the tail section, and blade type connectors inside the light housing. If replacing the whole unit, pull the bullets & replace. If replacing only the light, unscrew, pull the blades, put in the new light, plug in the blades, screw it on. No cutting or soldering should be needed/required. They have a quick disconnect. Easy to swap. It is one small screw on the pointed end. The blunt end hooks into the housing. | ||

My left rear was at the dealer 4 days after ordering, and at my house 2 days later. Maybe the right side is going out more frequently, and is under greater demand? | ||

Both of mine went out about a week apart. Just replaced the second lefty under warranty this week. Maybe we have to go through all the bad ones before the good ones start getting shipped. | ||

COuld be...my service manager threw me an extra one and just said if you have to use it, just bring me the broken one. This after he replaced my rear left for the second time. Apparently, Buell isn't even doing paperwork on these anymore--just sending them wherever the requests are. | ||

Anyone else have to remove the rear plastics to get to the wire connections for the left rear turn signal? I could get to the right signal and brake light connections from the battery compartment no problem, but the connections for the left signal were between the tail plastic and the frame, way forward at the front of the battery. Not a big deal, but seemed like they should have included a few more inches of wire to allow access without removing body panels... | ||

I doubt BMC expected this high of a failure rate. I know I'm surprised at the number seen here. The turn signals HAVE to be the highest single part failing. Neither my front or rear are stock. Working fine here. Z | ||

Zack- Have you had any issues with LEO regarding your integrated tail light/signals? Not sure if this applies everywhere, but I know here in PA the signals have to be 12" apart to be legal. I was thinking of going to the integrated unit XBLights offers, but don't want to encounter issues either while riding or when trying to get my inspection renewed. | ||

No issues here. I've been pulled over once, right after I got my hard plates, got a ticket for "riding like a crazy man". I felt like I was riding in a parking lot... XBLights integrated turn signals are VERY bright and not at all confusing or unclear as to direction of turn. Mine are amber, I understand some states have a problem with that too. 12,048 miles in 8 states, no LEO trouble. Knock-knock-knock. Z |
