DING..DING...DING...WE HAVE A WINNER! good job greg. there is no reason on earth you guys should be trying to diagnose or correct your own electrical issues on your brand new bikes, complete BS. i hope it gets sorted out for all of you, but it should be left to buell to take the heat(no pun intended) and correct it this time.

There's a huge problem with the electricals in 1125r models.

Dramatic eh?

this thread is going to spin out of control.
There should not be any "winners" or losers here. We are all gathering information and looking for answers. No one here who has had a battery issue is any way stating that they are looking to solve the problem on their own. We are gathering information to ensure that the issues are resolved at the dealer.
for example;
BaggerMike's bike is at the dealer right now. If we don't gather up info on what to expect, it will be very easy for the dealer to tell him its all good and take the bike home.

I did not drink the punch and I'm not here to somehow state that Buell can do no wrong. Its a brand new bike, with a brand new motor, with brand new everything.... something will go wrong.

Although I can't speak for anyone else, I knew this going in to the purchase of this bike and do have some confidence that as these issues arise –they will be taken care of under warranty.

---- I could be wrong and if I am, we will share that information here as well.

For what this is worth...I purchased my 1125 about a month ago and have logged over 1100 miles thus far. I've seen as high as 220'F coolant temps in traffic and in as high as 90'F ambient temps. I've had her slow for about an hour at a time and had her fast at two hours on the interstate without a stop. Broken in by the book, for the record. I also added aftermarket electrical loads after the fact. To the end, not one time did I experience anything related to this thread. Always lights on with key and after a restart when cold...good to go. Am I alone here or just lucky concerning this? I refuse to believe that it is the "cold"/"hot" issue questioned here...trees for the forest mindset...look deeper or on the surface. Sometimes the simplest problem is the hardest to diagnois. There has to be an explainable electo/mechanical reason for what you all are being tortured by. Period.

...well...not period...seek Buell dealerships and let them do their thing. They WILL remedy your issues I'm sure. Maybe not in your time but in time. Problems have their own time schedule. Seems that a lot that post here do not even own a 1125 and only pour verbal gas on a campfire concerning this subject and many more? 2008 Owners will prevail I believe with great reward in the end...and no I DO NOT WORK FOR THEM! Just a newbie testing and tuning...}}

Wow, people are getting a bit overboard.
On something as wide spread as Badweb you are going to see and hear all the bad news and B.S. first, just human nature.
Most of the troubles I've seen here seem to be not all that related. Maybe some electrical ones, but not many, not enough to see a real pattern yet even. We are just all eyes and ears tuned to a new bike.
I really think the exploding muffler and boiling fuel thing a bit far fetched and wouldn't get very excited about any of the other things either. They all seem fixable. A pita for some people but fixable.
I would second Slypiranna's comments. It'll be a learning curve for us all.

I put a Kuryakyn LED Voltmeter gauge on the bike today (see link below).

http://lifeisaroad.com/stories/2004/10/27/kuryakyn LedVoltmeter.html

I wired into into the right side running light. It works good and appears to be fairly accurate. It's a little to bright, but I can live with that. As soon as I installed, it showed I was running at less than 12.5 volts (yellow but no green LED's on). So I got out the volt meter and it was correct. I was running at 12.3 volts at idle. With the bike off the battery was at 12.1 volts. So put it on the charger and brought it back to full charge. With the battery fully charged, all the voltages look good when the bike is running. I've been riding the bike every day for the last 2 weeks and havn't had it on the charger, so the bottom line is the system is just slowly loosing ground as far as maintaining a good charge.

Called the dealership and explained all the history. They agreed there's a problem and it's going to take some time to isolate. I'll be out of town the week of the 25th so I'll let them have the bike for that week to diagnose.

I'll keep you guys posted on the progress.
