Chris,
I'll start posting the rest on my Tripe (trip) to Newfie'sland thread in the tale section.

That guy was really lucky, he only had facial cuts and no one was in the passenger seat. His two young boys were in the back and were screamming their heads offs. There were others of his family in a car right behind him, just think what it looked like to be driving along at night and have a huge brown animal come flying over the car in front of you tearing off the car top carrier as it goes by.
I had just missed seeing it, I had gone in to call Brad about Alex.

About a year ago I started going around Lake Superior with my dad and uncle. The tour group we were traveling with warned us about Moose when we get into Canada. Apparently there fur is so dense it absorbs light and you can't see them standing in the road.

They are definately different animals. Every year we go out east to visit my sister in Newport, VT. We end up going "moose hunting" as they call it. It's actually just moose watching. One night we went up to a place just this side of the Canadian border in NH and saw 10 of 'em. They don't scare out of the road easy neither.

That same night we were out there, there was a couple on a new HD Road King, musta been doin' the speed limit(55) on the same route we were. A moose ran out in the road, They had skid marks for something like 90 feet, and they slid yet another 80 feet beyond that. It was raining that night also. This was all reported in the local Newport newspaper.

Not real bright doin' the double nickel on those roads late at night when it's not wet out, with all the moose and such.

Next year, we're bringin' the bikes with us : )
There are too many beautiful roads to ride out there. I've already designed something up to make the footpegs on my S3T a tad bit higher, and adjustable so my 'lil guy(2 1/2 currently) will be able to ride with us. Hoping he wont be scared to death of them still next year that is : )

Steve,
I talked to someone at the Indy shop that had rigged up a set of something along the lines of stirrups for his 4-year old. Something to consider as an alternative.

I've got a rough sketch of something that runs from the stock passenger footpegs, up to the rear subframe of the S3t. Along the way, it will have several positions to place the passenger footpegs. I think it'll work.

I have to take the tail section body work off to finish the design, so it wont be till snow flies that I start machining anything up for it : )

I was sorting through the damage from my engine going BOOM and found that it had trashed the front mount for the race pipe/muffler,anyone got a spare?Small metal piece with 2 ears that bolt to front mount and C-shaped lower part(Used to be anyway)uses clamp to hold header.

Big changes for the Daytona International Speedway events for next year

The hot rumour right now is that the Daytona 200 race will be run by the FX bikes instead of the Superbikes........

I do. I think I have two. Let me rummage around tomorrow in the garage to find them and I will get back to you.

Josh,
Nah, my simple sheet metal, no welding, cost saving prototype didn't work as well as I'd hoped, and I just haven't had any time for CAD time on that project...too many projects, not enough time. Once most motorcyclists go into hibernation in the winter, I'll get time to run the CAD tube again.

Sorry.

Al

Al & Josh,
What are you trying to make? I sit in front of a Cad station all day(I'm a tool & die designer/maker). Maybe I can help? I have several CNC machines too at my disposal, and the keys to the shop : )

Firemanjim,
I found them. Both are used. One has broke but been repaired. Its now stronger than new with added bracing to the ear that broke. The other is broke the same way but has not been repaired yet. All the parts are there including the stainless clamp. Both for $10 shipped to your door.

If you want them just email me an address and I will send them. You can send a check before or after you get the parts. Your call.

While looking for them, I found another whole box full of Buell goodies I forgot that I had. As soon as I get an inventory together, I will post them here.
Again, thanks to all of you who bought all of the parts I posted before. I can almost see the other end of the garage now. : )

I'll just have to make do. Maybe I will go riding soon. You should see what you have to do to get to the fuse box or the battery.... plastic parts flying everywhere. I may have to build some new shelfs in the garage just to put all the body parts on if I ever want to see whats under all that plastic.
The last jap bike I owned was a 1000 LTD Kaw.
It handled like poo poo.(Cant say on this board).
This FJR is a whole different animal. I am very pleased with the suspension. And the engine....holy crap. mega hp and torque.

We will see. I still like to ride those V2wins. I tried on a Duc ST4S but the pegs were just too far back for my new knee right now. You never know what is in the future.
I was telling Bob that is sure was a shame that an American company cant build a bike that we want to use. We have to go over seas for it. Everytime I think about it, I get a little p-issed. And you guys dont start making excuses for it. There is none. Now that I have started thinking about it again, I p-issed again. Bye.

Speedweek has a bunch of bikes, probably a couple of Buells.I believe Paul will be there with his S-2.Then you have the Bub's motorcycle only event in first part of sept. Not sure if anyone will make that.I wanted to but cannot foresee being done with bikes that soon.Planning on the World of Speed event put on by USFRA sept 17-20th.Should be some 130 and 150 MPH club guys, also.USFRA always has a good event without all the formality and strict adherence to rules as the SCTA seems to be into. And there is the World Finals in October, just in case you don't get everything done in sept.
