Vik,
HP goes up with peak speed cubed, so if you want to increase peak speed by 20% you would need 73% more power (1.23). NASCAR Winton Cup racers need upwards of 700 HP to do 200 mph. Not likely a Z350 is going to do it with less than 400 HP.

Heheh, note in JQ's pic of the peg setup on the X1... Peg and shift lever are ground down pretty good. Reminds me of my old '00 Cyclone.

Way to ride the rain JQ. It takes smooth riding to ride fast in the rain. And in Battle Trax you really don't get a chance to save it if either end lets go. I say a day riding in the rain is still far better than a sunny day spent at the office.

Stubby... Are you sure the dealer really did the work? What you describe sounds exactly like a broken (old style) primary chain tensioner. The other possibility is that the "new" unit the dealer put in was an old version, but I would think that is pretty unlikely at this point, and that even if they did it would not have broken that quickly.

And when you do the adjustment, are you doing it at several different points of chain rotation?

Stubby,
Friendly thoughts followed by scarey thoughts....

1. Open up your clutch inspection cover as well as your primary chain adjustment window, and look all around in there for anything that looks or feels wrong.

2. Before you adjust anything rotate the chain and check for slop at several locations as Reepi mentioned.

3. If you have good light you can just about check the primary shoe and support bracket through the clutch inspection cover. A small dental mirror helps some. A long thin probing device can also get to it this way. Peek and poke and see if it moves or wobbles.

4. Grab hold of your clutch basket and see if it wobbles any.

5. Stick your finger (uh, should mention that your battery should be disconnected by now as well as the spark plugs should probably be removed, fingers should remain on the hands they were born with if at all possible) into the smaller window and see if you can feel any play on the front primary sprocket.

6. Worst (or best) case is to bite the proverbial bullet and remove the primary cover and get inside to see what's really going on.

This all assumes that when you snugged the chain adjuster bolt that you also snugged the lock-nut to secure it in place and that the bolt isn't simply backing itself out of adjustment as you ride. This all also assumes that your primary fluid is up to proper level and you are not wearing out your chain by running it dry. No offense but this stuff does happen occaisionally to some people.

Check the easy stuff, then work your way into the scarey stuff if you don't find anything. And let us know what you find out if you find anything.

>>>I'd show you a picture from the Buell website, but you would not know they ever made a bike or accesories for a bike called the S2 from looking at their website.

What a shame. The S-2, as Jose' so capably demonstrates and the fact that so many Buell fanatics have added S-2's to their collections, is an incredible motorcycle.

It's incredible not only in WHAT it does, but in how it "talks" to you while you are doing it. Only one other pleasure, to the best of my knowledge, provides such satisfaction.

I saved the pictures of the website and the pictures of the "old" 1995 Buell parts and acessories catalogs which never really got distributed.

HINT: I'll bet those pegs can still be bought.

Do we need to start handing out Team Elves patch fines and adding names to the BadWeB Hall of Shame? Technical questions belong in the Knowledge Vault, please. :|

I have a question that comes from last night's Two Wheel Tuesday on SPEED. In his pre-race interview, Jason Pridmore said that Suzuki released the 2003 GSX-R1000s late and that his team hadn't had sufficient time to set the bike up for racing. Is there an AMA rule that prevents him from racing his champoinship 2002 GSX-R1000 until the 2003 bike can be made race ready? Anybody know?

BadWeB Hall of Shame I understand, but what are Team Elves patch fines? I've seen it mentioned here and there, and have figured out it ain't good, but I'm still curious as to what they are.

As mentioned above - from experience - a low speed low side front or rear - as in battletrax - happens sooo fast you are screwed, and they hurt!! Broken foot under my S3!! My own fault - panicked and braked a little too hard. But damn it happened FAST!
I get my bike layed over pretty good, but at that speed they don't drift - they just go!

Fuse questions should go in electrical section of the KV.

Parts wanted should go in classifieds.

Hey all,
Didn't know exactly where to post this. Just had a Street Fighter Pipe put on my M2, along with a Force Winder Air Filter. Great combination, but loud as hell. Anyway, the pipe system came with this stainless steel "C" bracket with a orange silicone padding for the front muffler mount. Well, I have snap two of these brackets already. My question is, can I run this set up with the front muffler bracket? Right now, it's connected at the header and at the rear muffler bracket and the system is rock solid stable. I think the bike vibrates a lot at that front muffler bracket. I can also fabricate my own bracket if necessary. Anyone else with this trouble. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Tatsu

Well with all this talk about Stators, I discovered the Stator on my '95 S2 grounded out yesterday. Battery doesn't charge, no resistance between the two stator leads and no resistance between each lead and the engine case. Ok so is the Buell/Harley stator the best replacement or should I get an aftermarket?

Let see, S2T or XB9R, S2T or XB9R, such problems to ponder. Just talked with my Dealer here in Evansville and they are having a sale on XB9's at a price of $7995, and XB9S at $8995. He really wants to move the nine "R's" he has on his floor. Let see if I sell the Guzzi, the dog, the cat and..........

Come over here, Neil. Last I checked at the local dealer, they had 'S's for $8500 out the door. It's only about 3-4 hours away for you... I think. I've seen a few XBs around, but they want to get more of them on the road.
