Awwww crap.

Just got outta the hospital - bike pieces are over at friends.

Apparently I really wadded it up bigtime this time. I'll have to post pics. Looks like she's got thrashed forks, frame, broke the rear shock even (Penske)!

Haven't see it yet.

We had gusts to more than 40 today, and when I went down, I got knocked out more than 5 minutes so I got transported. Butsted no bones but I'm really eager to get to the bike to see what's needed. I've got a spare roller that WAS going to be the XB-last...until today's racing changed those plans.

Hand is sore, road rash on left arm, bruises on ribs, hips and head. Destroyed the Arai too.

Dang.

Taking tomorrow off - gotta let the Vicodin work for me tonight.

Bummer... we'll see - not ever engough time. I lose almost 2 seeks this month so that only leaves me 2 weeks to rebuild the beastie.

I'm whining. Weird weekend after marrying Jane and Ken last night on the front straight and doing a really cool parade lap... today THIS!

WAAAAAaaaaahhhh!

(just had to vent)

Dude, you are seriously working on a new nickname! I'm really glad you're 'okay'.Its always better that the bike gets the worst of the crash.
Maybe you should just build the XBlast instead?
Again, I'm glad you're okay.

Dude, I am just glad you are alright. From the way your bike looked, you made everyone worried. Glad to see your post.

There were 4 other crashes at turn 8 today. Two guys went down at the same time at the last race, one of them was lifted by Heli. Today was a horrible day.

Just curious, what happen? do you recall?

It sounds like you landed on your head. You got to take a little nap, but it sounds like nothing was broken. Did you have a failure in your leathers, with the rash ?

If you're in here complaining, than you're feeling better. Or feeling nothing...

Let us know what's going on when your out of the vicodan haze.

That sucks! I wadded a new SV1000S less than a 1/2 mile from the house 2 springs ago. Hit a "patched" frost heave that was hidden in a shadow and got a violent tank slapper as the bump knocked my butt out the seat and onto the tank. I think I went to full throttle accidently just trying to hang on to the bike and we went down. I wasn't riding hard either. I was just doing a slow 3rd gear accel out of a 2nd gear corner. Seemed like a mild crash to me (full ballistic gear, boots, Suomy), however, it broke the triple clamp, and destroyed every bit of body work on the SV. The bike spat me off and then hit much harder than I did. I feel for you. Ultimately, it's just a bike though. Good luck on your time table and heal up well. Where did it happen?

Never Give Up!

You are one tough motorcycle racer! My heart was in my throat there for a minute. Hope you heal well and quickly. If you get bored, give me a call and I'll tell you about how much of a coward I am on the track.

Heck Blake, I was supposed to be on a PLANE this morning... but that gets put off for a week.

I'm really doing OK - just have to dust off all the spares.

With the rear engine mount torn out of the engine, I have to do a complete teardown to the cases... deeds to do.

Thanks but dang, it was starting out as a fun weekend but the winds threw a bunch of people off the track yesterday!

I decided on a tire switch from slicks to Diablo Corsa because it really looked like rain. Just can't push the Diablo Corsa as hard and I was getting it pretty loose and the handling wasn't as predictable. One racer behind me said the bike was hopping sideways before I got thrown.

From this:

to this:

If I can get the cases, I might make next month but I'm losing a couple weeks on travel to Texas so the wrenching time might be iffy.

I've just never seen the rear engine mount torn out by the isolator.

Hey, it's Club racing, supposed to be FUN!

Vince - 35 IS too high - you're right.

Those are Diablo Corsa - should be 33 but we checked them in the morning (on Pirelli's gage, not mine) - not sure how far apart the gages really are. Diablo Corsa do need 33 however (not 35), the Pirelli slicks that I normally run with use 28 front, 26 rear. IF they were 35 when cooled off, that's not good.

These Diablo Corsas were just too much of a switch for me. They were sliding. What can I say, should have kept the slicks I was practicing on Saturday.

Oh well, live and learn.

Vicodin is still being very good to me.

Tomorrow it's back to work and then try to look closer at the broken beast.

Sheesh... weekend started out excellent but the finish kinda sucked.

I'm not going to be too bummed, just have lots of work to do.

Did you see the bike when it got loaded up? It was pretty ratty!

Well Vince, as you are PAINFULLY aware yourself, falling IS part of racing!

Nothing a couple tubes of JB weld won't fix...

Dang, Steve, what was that we were just talking about? How much does racing cost again?

Good luck, heal well. Glad you're mostly OK.

Maybe you could see if you could work a deal with Buell to be their official crash tester?

I was so glad to hear you were finally making it back on the track. Now this.....

Well, you're OK - or as OK as you're ever gonna get.

We'll have to get some kinda little pseudobrag hang happening once I finish putting the garage crap away at the new digs.

As far as crashes go, it wasn't all that bad but the bike hooked up and tumbled. Just comes with the territory.

Not sure if I'll have the time to turn it around this month in time to make the races in May... fingers crossed.

Actually, clean the dirt off, I'm kinda surprised at how little damage there really is.

Yes, the cases need to be replaced (look at the torn rear isolator+mount) - but the swingarm MIGHT be usable, the forks were going to be replaced anyways (they almost look usable the way she is lying there)

A couple days and I'm already optimistic. Problem is that I leave again for Texas next week... was SUPPOSED to leave yesterday but felt pretty cruddy so put it back a week.

I'll be out for next race weekend - and if the bike's not ready or if I'm not ready, I'll just play in the pits as usual.

Slaughter, I slid my bike into a guard rail post and busted my rear isolator. It just bolts to the top of the case, so unless the holes are stripped out or another part of the case is cracked, you shouldn't have to replace them. The rear isolator is around $55 new.

Toona,

What doesn't show in that pic is the rear of the case is busted open where the swingarm smashed into it. I'm afraid it's new cases for sure.

Gotta go one more night on vicodin - days are OK without it. This weekend will be tear-down and parts inventory.

This is how racing can get kinda expensive - and this is Club racing... we're having FUN!

Just at the entrance to turn 8.

I'm really curious to see if I blew the bottom end and locked the engine. That place is just someplace you NEVER fall down!

I don't start tearing down the motor til I get back from Texas next week.
