The holidays are approaching, post up some pics or let me know what you have plugged in your two accessory outlets. Just trying to get some ideas. Happy Thanksgiving. |

All I've ever plugged in there is cell phones. I've got dedicated power for GPS, Gerbings gear etc. |

GPS, phone, radar detector, helmet mounted alert light for the radar, racing computer, tire pressure monitoring system, and soon I'll put on the heated grips whenever I stop being lazy. |

They are a waste of time. Run a fused 2.5mm heatproof cable from the battery. Do it once, do it right. |

I used one once to power an air compressor to fill an air mattress when I was camping... |

I ran a heated vest from mine for a while but was worried about water getting in there. Vest now run with a fused direct feed from the battery and GPS connected to the back of the fairing socket inside the fairing. |

Direct-wire to battery for heated clothing, battery tender, and added an automotive cigarette outlet direct (unswitched, constant hot) for cell phone or Scala headset charging overnight when camping. Front outlet has the factory Quest GPS setup, and factory heated grips wired in. I use that outlet a lot for a cell phone charger (have a USB-charger plug-in) when on longer rides - keep the phone plugged in and charging while riding since I listen to Pandora or some of my 8GB of music while riding (Scala G4 headset). I've used the rear outlet to run my Slime compressor, but that's about it (I have a clothing pigtail hardwired to the battery for the passenger, too). |

Hey Rat does keeping your heated gear pigtail drain the battery? It seems mine does or it may have been the fuel pump> What say you? tanks |

With nothing plugged into my heated clothing thermostat, all it is, is a couple of flashing LED's. The draw is the *clothes*, not the wiring or thermostat. Got the original '06 battery in my '06 Uly. |

I use mine just to recharge my cell, ebook and camera batteries when I am on the road. My GPS is wired direct. |

I've used the one in front twice, both times to power a portable air pump. I have used the wires to it to connect my GPS and voltage indicator. The one under the seat, I can't imagine what I'd use for. |

Ski - move your voltage meter wires. BEFORE you get into a situation where you actually need the meter. The ECM turns off the outlet when power gets low - in other words, exactly when you need the meter the MOST. Tap into your gauge lighting wires instead. Constant-on, accurate read even after the ECM turns off the accessory outlet. |

"The ECM turns off the outlet when power gets low" ?... Not on my 2007. I spliced a Signal Dynamics voltage monitor directly into the accessory wire. Works just fine. When my charging system failed, I was able to pop the headlight fuse and ride the bike over 50 miles back to to my house. I monitored the voltage the entire way. When I arrived home, the battery was practically dead and the red LED was flashing (indication of very low voltage), but it never went off. |

That just means the red LED isn't below the ECM's threshold. The outlets are ECM controlled. AFAIK, it's on ALL years. |

The wiring diagram in the 2007 model year FSM shows no connection between ECM and accessory outlets. Power is supplied directly from Aux relay to both 12VDC outlets. If ECM is controlling power, I would like to know how. |

They may have changed it in the swap to DDFI-3, but the 07 should be identical to my 06. And I've *watched* the ECM turn my GPS off, when my 77 let go. Bike still ran, voltmeter was showing in the neighborhood of 10v, and the GPS and grips got shut off. Check the ground path. My guess is, the ECM isn't going to switch 20A of voltage; it'll switch the ground, like it does for the fan. |

My guess would be that your GPS is not designed to operate on only 10v and shut itself off accordingly. Grips probably won't operate at 10v as well. Check your wiring diagram in the FSM. It's clear as day. No ECM control of accessory outlets (at least for 2007). |

Am I the only one who carries a spare Zumo 550 cradle and power cord in my tool kit? Came in handy last year . . . the pins on the Zumo mount are a tad fragile. I knew I'd have one go eventually. Sure enough . . . guy who was with me was surprised when I reached in the side bag, snagged a Garmin box, popped out the new mount and installed it in about 90 seconds. I like paper maps as much as the next guy but the Zumo has changed the way I ride. |
