As many of you know I had a very busy year. I didn't ride much because I was trying to get the 46 done plus start a new business. I don't have the car to worry about this next year. I do have the business. Thats one less thing that took all my time. I am looking forward to riding a lot more this next year. I would like to paint my bike this winter and do a few other things to it. Its got 57k on it and needs some cosmetics.
I am looking forward to this new year. Sam will have is 88" motor in his XB. THAT should be fun.
COURT I was thinking maybe you could do a little R&D for Buell by riding your new XB to KC. and let the factory know they made a huge mistake by discontinuing the Sport Touring model. What do you think? I'll spring for the room and board and Ribs.

I did not know I was pulling the pin out of a grenade! LOL

No one said the dealership had to be open at the start of every ride. No one said it would be only Buells on the ride... or it would be limited to only club members. Guests can ride. Really in the case of a Scott ride... the only difference I see is we start at Gail's. Worse case scenario... WORSE CASE SCENARIO... non-BRAG riders signs a liability release before the ride.

Technically... I go on a Scott ride... or a KC Bill ride... or a Tripper ride... I hit a pothole and crash... I could try and sue Scott or Bill or Tripper. ...because they selected a "hazardous" route. Actually... this way... who ever plots the route... might be gaining a little protection... as a release was signed... and it was not "their" ride!

Back to the point... Actually I kinda like the Sunday afternoon thing... we would not have a bunch of HOG guys to give us dirty looks. (once again LOL)

But as Dave posted above... I don't think the dealerships desire for all club rides to start at the dealership is unreasonable. I speculate that it does a couple of things. I shows it is an Official ride, no doubt... no argument... and it may divert some liability from us or attach some liability protection as to the start location... as official BRAG events do have some limited liability issues attached.

If we start someplace else... and something happens... whatever liability benefits come from being an official ride go away... or can be disavowed.

AND... Anyone new to the club (read just bought a Buell) knows exactly where to start the ride. A common denominator. No confusion... always the same... no mixup on where the ride starts "this weekend".

The dealership said...
Two Basic rules that they will have for BRAG rides...
1. Starts at the dealership.
2. Ends when the kickstands go down at the destination.

Yes... Gail's is kinda not in the center of the metro area... but then again casa de Hernandez is not... Central is not... and Scott's church lot is not. Where ever we start... it is gonna be the wrong end of town for someone.

Let's not get all this hung up on the fact the dealership says rides start at Gail's. It's not like we have to start at Topeka or Columbia! ...or they dictate where the ride goes, or their ride captain sets the pace. We really are not losing or giving up anything by starting at Gail's.

With Central as a sponsor... we were tossed a dealer number to use to apply... and after that... what did we have? The KC Mob with the name Central HD BRAG.

Now... we may be trading a little autonomy... for a bunch of beneficial programs, assistance and sponsored events.

What are we gonna say... sure we want a Battletrax... but we want in in the parking lot of the Woodlands? Erik's band would be cool... but Scott's church has a big auditorium! We want a sport bike day... but can we have it at Kemper? Please remember the reason for HOG and BRAG it to promote business... it is not a charity for wayward bike riders! We will lose very little in comparison to what we may be gaining!!

If we get hung up... and need to negotiate with the dealership about some issue... let's save it for something that REALLY matters... That has REAL importance. Let's not slip on little stuff please!

It is a mutually beneficial arrangement. We get them to spend money on stuff we want to do or happen... they promote business. I say it could be a win... win situation... with us "giving up" very little!

I am tired... I don't want to offend anyone... I do not intend to come across wrong... or single anyone or place out in my examples... that was not my intention, just to get some points in focus... and I am sorry if I did something other than what I intended to do... but we can't get hung up on a little compromise, over losing a little autonomy.

I AM VERY SORRY IF I CAME ACROSS IN ANY MANNER THAT SEEMED HARSH OR IMPATIENT. I WANT ALL THE COULD BE THINGS... THAT WE SEEM TO BE HEADED TOWARDS... TO BE LOOKED BACK ON BY ALL OF US... AS WOW... LOOK WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED WITH THE "PARTNERSHIP" WE ENTERED INTO WITH GAIL'S!

Opportunity is knocking... I am still skeptical... I still have some baggage from my personal dealing with the "old" dealership... BUT THIS STUFF AIN'T GONNA CRASH AND BURN BECAUSE I DIDN'T TRY. I HOPE EVERYONE ELSE WILL MAKE THAT RESOLVE... THAT IT AIN'T GONNA CRASH AND BURN BECAUSE WE DID NOT DO OUR PART TO MAKE ALL THIS HAPPEN.

If anyone feels they need to debate my point of view... let's discuss it face to face... because it is really difficult to debate issues a posting at a time on the BadWeb. It is difficult to maintain continuity... to read facial expression and body language... it CAN be easy to take something wrong because of how it was typed on the screen. It just is not the quality of communication one gets talking in person. My mind is open... I will listen to other thoughts or methods to accomplish what we all want out of this.

We meet Thursday... let's hear what I have to pass along... and then address our goals logically... prioritize our goals... and put a plan in action to have a great club!

Come to the meeting Thursday... let's work out the bumps and details there... or at least identify them... and set a plan!

PLEASE... everyone attend the meeting Thursday!!!

goodnight!

As I was on my way to work this morning... I was passed. YES, PASSED BY... a guy wearing a chrome helmet.

I thought about how little I have rode this year. The issues I have with health which effects my circulation. How too often when I ride when the temperature is below 50 degrees, how I quickly lose feeling in my feet due to poor circulation.

I also thought how frustrated I have been the last three or four months dealing with chest pain and dangerously high blood pressure. Having many days with fatigue after returning from work where I lay across the bed in the den for the evening. Basically too tired to do much more than that.

As I watched the chrome helmeted rider zoom past me from the inside of the cab of the warm Dodge truck I drive to work, I almost felt ashamed as the warm air blew onto my feet.

Then I realized three things...

1. I am getting older and have to accept that my health issues are out of my control.

2. I should be grateful that the vehicle and gasoline for that Dodge truck is provided to me by my employer. Saving me the expense of daily to and from work travel.

3. THAT THE FUTHA FREAKER WAS RIDING A STELLA SCOOTER AND HE PASSED ME! A GUY THAT OWNS A REAL MOTORCYCLE... A BUELL... THAT COULD BLOW THAT SCOOTER OFF THE ROAD WHEN I PASSED HIM DOING TRIPLE DIGITS!!!

SUDDENLY I WAS FULL OF RAGE!!!

I sped up in the truck (the piece of crap they give me to drive was barely able to catch up). I roll down the window, the cold air biting at my face and I yell to the rider of the Yellow Stella scooter with the cute little windshield.

“Hey pu**y boy... get a real motorcycle!” “Be a man!”

At the next light... the pretty little scooter with the cute little windshield, stops next to me. I look over to see a woman who could not have been any younger than 60 years old.

She looks at me and says! “I’m gonna kick your ... and you can tell all your motorcycle riding friends a scooter riding great grandma put you in the hospital!”

I ran the red light, (and looked back to see if she followed... cause I knew this POS I was driving might not out run that scooter). I then called my doctor to see if maybe my medication needed to be adjusted. I am just a bit on edge with all the new meds.

The rest of the way to work... I kept checking my rear-view mirror to be sure she was not following me.

The moral of the story is...

When we have public conversations... though the posting might be in response to one made by a particular individual. There are others who read the posting who are also in the conversation, because this is a public forum. Almost like yelling out a truck window, for all to hear.

We are “talking” not only to the one who made the posting, but also to those who read the posting... who might hold the same thoughts, questions or opinions, and might also need to hear the rest of the story. We should always recognize... the audience is larger than we may realize. That the posting made has a broad impact.

Basically indicating how difficult it is to fully address a subject without having seen the big picture, with the limiting means of communication, by posting on the internet. The view out the truck window, might not show the full picture... until we stop and see the big picture!

Even though it does often have excellent results by short and to the point postings!

See ya all at the meeting tonight!!!.

Ya! Grandma was pretty peeved! She said she almost had to open up a big can of woopass this morning on some young kid in Dodge pickup. She said the only thing that stopped her was she lost sight of the truck due to her cataracts.

She is coming to the meeting tonight, but Dennis I think you will be okay as long as you stay on the far side of the room from her. She won't be able to see you very well. Oh ya park that Dodge around back. She's hunting for it. LOL!!!!

See you at the meeting.

If you were refering to my posts, I did and do realize the size and scope of who could be reading what I post. I am careful to think about what I say and have not said anything that would hurt or negativly affect anyone. If you were not refering to my posts ok too. I still like you both ways Dennis, I would hate to run you or any of the guys off. If I ran you off who would take up writing realy long story posts except maybe Sam.

No Scott...

No issues... I just really was passed by a mustard yellow Stella scooter... and had to write my little story... it came out of my fingers and dripped into the keyboard.

And then I was struck with a moral of the story as an after thought, after reading the story!

Too much time... and too little brain on my hands!

I was down in the shop for about 10 minutes and actually looked at my bike. The one day I feel pretty good... and I can't talk Sharon and Scott into running errands on the XB... I even told them I did not care who rode pillion and who rode on the handlebars!!!

No sense of adventure!!!!

BTW...

I saw a coupla Mobbers at Gail's Saturday... partaking in the luncheon and generally enjoying the nice day. Cool!!

The Buell section has expanded.
