I finally got around to installing the mirrors I bought from RRC a few months ago. These are the "XBR Mini Fairing Mirrors" that can be found on their website - www.r-r-customizing.de The pictures are horrible - it's nighttime and I was in flourescent lighting. They don't do them justice. The mirror housings are black plastic, so obviously they match my bike, and the mounts and arms are billet aluminum, powdercoated black. I'm not sure I entirely like how the arm mounts to the mounting plate, but I Loctited them up and we'll see how it holds. It does give them a range of motion that the stock mirrors don't have, not to mention getting rid of that awful rubber boot. I haven't ridden it yet, so no report on visibility, but bear in mind that I'm one of like three people that didn't seem to mind the stock mirrors! |

A little off subject here, but are those blue lights on your xb? where did you get them at? I put 100watt blue lights on my bike from iron machine and they suck they look yellow. |

Heh...no. The bike's not even on...that's just the flash from my camera! My high beam (right bulb) is a bright white 55W direct replacement that a fellow Bueller gave me a couple summers ago. The low beam is still the original. Aside from the color, are the 100W an improvement in visibility? How are the housings holding up to the increased wattage? Anyhow...I'll try to get some better pictures of the mirrors tomorrow. The bike's filthy...hasn't been cleaned since I waxed it right after I got home in August! |

Okay I had to see them on first. Now I like them and must have them. I hate that rubber boot. Added to a list of things to get. 1) New Corbin Seat 2) Frame Sliders, Pucks, Swing arm sliders 3) Digital Speedometer and Tach 4) Mirrors 5) NOS |

Tatsu, I'd move #5 to #1 and get rid of #3 and #4. With NOS you will be going scarey fast and you won't need mirrors!! That's just more drag anyways....Odie |

Darthane: You're referring to these, correct? RRC SW 341 Euro 50,39ex Mini Race fairing mirror for XB 9-R and XB 12-R You didn't mention "race" above, but I assume they are the same. Did the mount come with them? Did you order direct? Chris |

Bark - that's them. The total including shipping to Michigan came to just under $100. I ordered direct from them online, but it took a while, both because there was a problem with their ordering system (simply wouldn't allow me to complete the order) and the distance. Once I got the order in it took about 5 weeks for them to arrive. They did reply to my e-mail explaining a bit about the delay, though a bit slow (they're all German, so I'm not sure how many of them speak english well enough to correspond that way). All in all, I'm happy with the mirrors, and considering that they're in Europe, I'm satisfied with the service as well. They came with all the necessary hardware. |

Darthane: Oooh, those mirrors ARE nice! I agree with you about the rubber boots looking ugly. I have pondered maybe removing the boots and exposing the underlying hardware (maybe even paint them a flat black). Granted, the existing hardware is not as pretty as the ones you have; but I like the "mechanized" look without the rubber boots. Hmm, I do have to take my fairing off to replace headlights...! |

I got some better pictures of them that I'll post later tonight or tomorrow (I'm on afternoon shift for a while). I have the mirrors 'upside down', because I liked the lines of them better that way, but I noticed today when I washed the bike that there is a small hole in what I have as the top, but no hole in the bottom, so I'm gonna have to swap them. Another day, though. Visibility out of them is no better or worse than stock, but they've sure got them beat in the looks department! |

Dumb Question: Are those drain holes on the mirror housings? If so, they are upside down (not that it matters). Did you mount them upside down on purpose? Very nice mirrors. Mike. |

Oops, I missed the post before the last set of pics. That explains it. Never mind.... Are those mirrors lighter than the stock XB mirrors (short and/or long stalk ones)? Mike. (Message edited by xb9er on November 19, 2004) |

They are definitely lighter than the stock (short stalk, and thus long stalk) mirrors. I'd have to weight them to tell you how much (might do that when I take them off to reverse them). Also, I mis-spoke when I said that the stalk on these was billet, powder-coated. It appears that only the lowest portion is aluminum (where the screws that secure it to the base go in), and the rest is molded plastic. The coating on the plastic looks and feels like powder-coat, though. -=shrugs=- |
