2008 1125r. Bike is due for a little tlc. it is getting new tires tomorrow and in the next couple weeks I plan on doing an oil change, spark plugs and air filter. Question is will the K & filter adversely effect a bone stock 1125r? I commute daily and really do not want to exacerbate the already rough riding below 4k rpms. |

It will be fine with the K&N, but I recommend sticking with the stock filter, it does a better job keeping crap out of the motor. That said, get a Race ECM to fix the sub 4k issue |

Where can I get one in the states? Are they mapped for stock exhaust? |

http://idspd.com/ sells tunable ECMs for our bikes, they are the company that made the stock ones. |

Yeah.. I am pretty sure that K&Ns aren't worth any noticeable power gain, and that they allow more crap into the motor. I did an oil analysis of my 1125R of it with the stock filter, and will be doing another with the K&N once I've got enough miles on it. I expect silicon and wear metals to be higher. |

Not looking for power gain. The stock filter cost the same as the K & n filter but is a throw away. Unless you guys know of a cheaper place to buy the filter. |

The K&N will NOT filter as well as a stock filter...but is it enough to cause a noticeable difference in engine longevity - that's up for debate. If you're not looking at squeezing the last ounce of power, stay with a stock filter. If you ride in really dusty or dirty conditions, stick with the stock filter. The K&N will increase power in a modified engine where getting as much air in as possible is the goal, but there's a sacrifice in actual filtering ability to get that extra air. Whether that matters enough to sway you one way or another is up to you. |

Anybody know where to get the stock filter for less than the K & n? |

Right there is the best reason to get a K&N. Buy it once, keep it clean and oiled and you're protected for several years. Or you can try to find a new OEM one every 2-3 years. I have a K&N. |
