I'm on my second Bosch oil filter that appears to be leaking. My uncle tightened the first one by hand (and left a dent), so I assumed it was damaged. After replacing, I followed the specs of 3/4 once seated and needed a tool to do so, but a leak appeared after 2 miles of riding. The leak runs to the left and down the engine while parked. Is it possible something ON the bike is damaged, or is the filter still too loose? Could it be overtightened? |

Check the seating surface for any nicks or....extra gasket? Are you sure it is the oil filter? Could it be an oil line, there is an oil line and fitting that is right next to the filter, maybe that was disturbed when the filter was removed/replaced? Clean the engine, let the engine warm and look for the leak before you start riding it, maybe the leak is traveling? |
