When building my 1125 race bike I couldnt find any affordable options for a damper/stabilizer. Regardless of the brand they cost about $500. A buddy and I wound up fabricating a bracket that mounts to the neck of the bike/below the fairing stay. It utilizes a stock GSXR damper and a Shindy fork mount. I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in buying this set up if we were to produce a dozen or so. We would supply the bracket/damper/fork mount/hardware and the drill bit and instructions needed for installation. Its not just a bolt up and go though...it requires drilling into the frame, which technically "totals" the bike. It works really well(race tested last week)and would cost about $200 per unit. Thanks, Tuna |

albert: i would reroute that brakeline to the other side of that bracket. in case of hard steering or a tankslapper, it would probably cut that line there or damage it at least. the steering stop limiter is important, if you put on the clip-ons. apart from that it looks pretty similar to the ebr-set. I've got a similar set up to Al,but with a cheap damper and on top of the fairing mount, works great and still uses the steering stops. Not rocket science to do,just takes a bit of care getting everything to work together. In this day and age it was pretty piss poor that they came without one as standard |

That works too. lol The throw and routing is pretty important. I used the shortest throw/stock damper I could find in order to limit interference with cables etc. |

Kanatuna, interesting, but the drilling the frame makes it something I wouldn't be comfortable doing. I'd prefer to make any "permanent" mods to my bike. Albert, your setup looks nice. I could've sworn you'd posted that before and I'd asked you if you were interested in selling it. If the price is right, I'd buy it! |

Does the pictured damper mount connect with the other side or....? I would think it would need two plates, one for each side of the fairing stay in order to be strong enough. |

If you want to go low-budget, you can get used GSXR dampers for less than $40 - you will have to fab mounts, of course. I'm currently building a Ninja 250 track/race bike using that set-up. (Nasty tendency for tank-slappers on the Ninja) |

Tank slappers on a 250 Ninja? I ran nearly 100 hard race laps on a 2nd gen at Jennings in November. I never once felt the bike do anything remotely close to a tank slapper. Your ride height #'s good? Stensg - 54mm |

You don't need to drill the frame!!! you just bolt a bracket on with the fairing mount bolts, just like Albert's pic. |

It's true...you dont have to drill the frame if you go your route. However, if he is interested in the set up I have, he does. lol |

"Tank slappers on a 250 Ninja? I ran nearly 100 hard race laps on a 2nd gen at Jennings in November. I never once felt the bike do anything remotely close to a tank slapper. Your ride height #'s good?" You could be right - but I have seen them go batty in bumpy turns. Plus, I'm putting my youngest son on this, and as I see it, it's cheap (better than no) insurance. Kenny Anderson was running a 250R when his crash followed a tank slapper, so it does happen to even skilled riders. |

Albert, would you be willing to make more brackets? Your exhaust work looks nice and is reasonably priced, so I'd expect good things from your steering damper mounting kit! |

Stirz- Thats a shame about Kenny. I met and raced against him back in May. Great kid and super talented. I meant nothing about you mounting a damper on the bike. Just have never heard of them being notorious for tank slappers... The bike I raced was a borrowed street bike. Stock suspension/brakes etc. Just threw on some gsxr/ducati/r6 plastics and raced it. The bike was phenomenal. This was the race. http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/dynoworks-1st- republic-of-speed-win-jennings-gp-endurance-races- updated/ |

I didn't take your comments in a bad light at all. I've heard both sides of the 250 slapper story from "why bother" to "you definitely should". I figure at one end of the spectrum it can't hurt and at the other end, cheap insurance. Of course I just finished paint and bodywork last weekend, now get to take it all apart again to fabricate and weld frame mount......... THEN I have to get the 1125 back together. |

It's simple with WERA...."You have to have it or you don't race" lol Good luck on the builds man. |

Hey fellas, I have a 2010 CR...will this work on mine? I hope as I haven't found any steering damper that works at all on mine. |

They will work fine. You will see the damper though. The 1125R's upper covers the damper. |
