Okay, I'm in HD with a coworker. He's getting some HD jewelry for is wife. So I wonder around and find a 2009 red 1125R that has approx 3400 miles on it. I throw a leg over it and feels good. I'm wanting to go back to the "crotch rockets" again. Have always liked the 1125r but bought a Uly about 5yrs ago. Mainly due to the commute that I had back then and being 6'4". They are asking $7500, I'm sure there is some negotiation built into that. What I would like to do is trade my 2006 stock Uly with a little over 22K miles on it for this thing. I would like to get 4K for my bike and talk him down to $6,500 if possible. Think I could do that? I am asking you people that are "in the know" because I don't really know the values as good as I should and again my research time is very limited with my busy life. I don't have time to research through all the posts to figure this out and honestly I'm a bit lazy in that area. Can you guys provide some info, plz....
Also posting this on the 1125R Superbike side of the fence.

Skip that. Keep the Uly and get a 1125. They compliment each other very nicely and have totally different riding styles. They are asking too much for that bike anyway, I paid less than that new. If you look around you can find one for around $5000, and it may have it's issues already resolved.

I'm with Froggy - start a collection (especially since you have one of the good Orange Uly's!). If they don't come down on that particular bike...keep an eye on the Badweb classifieds. There are always some for sale...for much lower costs.

Although...if you're in Appleton, it's probably at a good dealer, so it's most likely set up properly and will be backed by people who know what they're talking about.

I'm also 6'4"...and own a Uly (admittedly, it's my "go-to" bike) and an 1125CR, as well as a handful of old tubers. No issues with height, reach, or fit on the 1125. Twist, grin, repeat : ) Just be warned - they're scary-fast, especially if you're used to the aircooled powerband and output levels.

I third those motions.

Bike are cheap, start a stable. I'm definitely keeping my Uly.

On a side note ... I think used Buell prices, especially the Ulys, are already going up a little in value since I purchased my '07 used with farkles a couple of years ago from a Harley dealership for $3850 including tax, title, and license.

Thanks for the info/input. I will mull all this over and figure out my next move. I'm not sure how this will play out, yet.
Happy riding! Especially for the people that can ride right now. It's still flipp'n winter in Wisconsin. And I really want to ride... NOW!

If your going to do this sell the Uly private and do a cash deal on the R. You will lose a lot of money other wise.

If you can have both then do so. Myself I could and thought on a R many a time but the miles and type of riding I do would be a waste of an R. BUT I still want one. But hey thats bikes?

I am still getting hung up on the "HD jewelry" part...
My idea of Buell jewelry is a fresh set of tires. Maybe a nice laminar lip or something.
Buell earrings anyone?

Ask for a straight trade.
You got nothing to lose.

$4k for a 2006 Uly with 20k is high retail (IMHO). Don't get me wrong, in terms of being a bike to ride, it's worth twice that all day long. But in terms of what the market will bear, that's about as much as the dealer could expect to get for it (unless they hit the "didn't shop around" lotto, which is certainly a possibility at a HD dealer).

On the other hand, they can move a Uly much easier than they could move an 1125 (by probably a factor of 10 to 1).

"I am still getting hung up on the "HD jewelry" part..." I could not get over the cat collar and dog leads myself at the local dealer. Now do not get me wrong I could care less what products HD brand I do, however, not want to get home with the wrong plugs, as it did to me, for my bike.

HDs "core" is not bikes its a "lifestyle" brand and they make many more bucks out of brand products than bikes. It is even said you can buy HD condoms?

Hmmm, makes me wonder about whether or not I'd fly on a plane made by Harley!?

Deals off!
The wife is sooo talking crazy. If I come home with another bike, either traded or outright bought she will get another animal. Oh the pain! We have three dogs and one cat already. I made a deal with her the last time I got the Uly, I get a bike she get's a dog. At the time it was a great deal, we only had one dog and two cats back then. (had to put the other one down, health problems) Well, we ended up with this good for nothing lhasa-pug-who know what else is mixed in there mess! And I could go into the stupid things it does, I really don't like the dog. But my blood pressure would rise, I would get light-headed, and who know's what else would happen to me. :-( Life is always a circus with the animals, no peace. So no way!! Her plan was to get one of those tea cup persians cats that will cost approx $2,500 and then all the other expenses will follow. Here is the kicker, that stupid dog would hurt the little cat, it has already hurt the other cat and we hardly ever see it anymore. It hides and slinks everywhere. :-(
It's not a total loss, I have just reconfirmed my love for the Uly and all is good. The Uly is stock right now, but not for long. I see a new exhaust, air cleaner, and EBR ECM in my future!! Even entertaining the thought of making it it another color, let's go with black for today. (Note: she was looking over my shoulder for most of this and chuckling) :-)

See if the dealer will do a straight trade - your wife and her animals for the 1125R.

Just kidding of course... no dealer would make that trade.
