I ordered a set of the extra heavy weight bars ends and put them on tonight. I also filled the bars with silicone to try to take some of the vibes out as completely kills my right hand.

While I was installing them the instructions said you have to play with them to keep them from binding the throttle so it will snap back freely when released. Well after playing with the weight I got this done then got to thinking why not let it bind the throttle a little and have a pseudo cruise control as is this not what that very expensive krako throttle lock does, just increases resistance on the throttle. I mean so what if I have to manually rotate my wrist on the throttle. I do that anyway.

Anyone do this and how did it work out....just thinking this would do the same thing.

KAOKE ($175.00 please.....)

If you space the bar end out a little, you can use a thick heavy duty O-Ring to act as a throttle lock that easily pops in and out as needed.

Did it help the vibrations?
Here is one that comes with the throttle lock o-rings.

No idea if the vibes are better as I just did it and wanted the silicone to cure out before riding it around. I will know soon though. I think I will put an O ring on as I have a box of heavy duty misc o rings I keep in the shop.

Having a friction throttle lock on top of all the other things I did I believe should square me away on the longer trips I have planned....one being close to 10k.

The ebay auction one I doubt would work with a Uly because of the hand guards.

Here is a set that works on my Uly with the hand guards I got that they had on ebay by the same seller as above. The cruise control works well. Great for long trips.

Aluminum looks really nice, but it doesn't have nearly the weight of the stainless bar ends. Probably not even half. Weight is what kills the vibes.

Good point, mine from HVMP are heavy. But how Thump has the o ring is something I could easily adapt for cruise control. I guess you just roll the O ring into the gap for longer constant speed rides....

Thrilled to at least have an option for cruise

Oh, you are right, the aluminum is lighter than the stainless but any weight is better than the factory plastic plug. That's why I was curious if Kag thinks the vibes are better than before. Even though they aren't as heavy, I know that it changed the vibes after adding the ones I have. I'm looking forward to Kag's results with the heavy bar ends and silicone.

Just unhook the return spring down by the throttle body. Then you don't need a throttle lock (yes, it will still self-return).

Wish I coulda done that on my Ducati...

My right hand goes numb after about 20 minutes no matter what.
Courtesy of a bad wreck on Mt. Palomar in the early 80s.

I don't find the Uly too buzzy on the highway, but I have a trick for the numbness.
Learn how to run the throttle with your left hand so the right can regain feeling.
Been doing this for almost 30 years now and can even do it with Hippo Hands on the Uly.

If you do try this, keep to straight runs for a while, curves can get weird at first.

Ok been running these now riding back and forth to work.

The bars filled with silicone and the end weights....yes it does help and would guess its 50% better now. Does it get rid of the right hand numbness.... no.
For long runs I just am going to have to play with the tightness of the end weights so it acts as a friction lock. After a long ride whole hand and wrist hurts.... like being a teenager again...jk

Riding with the left hand on the right throttle....

Is filling the bars with silicone worth the cost...yes...1 tube about $3.00. I put tape over the bar holes till cured.

Is the bar weights worth the cost $65....maybe. It does help

Thanks for the honest report. I'm wondering if I put lead shot (like a dead blow hammer) then sealed it with silicone would help. Guess it it cant hurt and is reversible. Thanks Kag.

Kag, try some different gloves. I've found that when I had new, tight gloves, my hand would go a bit numb. When they broke in, no problem.

Foam grips (06 bike) or Grip Puppies (10 bike) on HD heated grips take out a lot of the vibs and work well on the Uly.

I cut 25mm off each end of the bars on both my bikes. Helps the vibs and makes for less arm stretch and better handling for road riding. Easy, cheap and works great.

I used small steel bar weights on my 06 bike and home made internal (lead wire) weights on the 10 bike and they worked well.

If you do all of these you should get minimal vibs. My 10 bike has almost none at all and the 06 bike was way better. I did it for the mirrors because I need to see whats going on behind me.

Anything you could do to get to a more neutral riding position (sitting straight up instead of forward) would most likely help as well. The Uly is a lot more neutral than other Buells but every rider fits their bike differently. I will be doing the bar cut off mod myself sometime and the next time I have things apart I'll also be rotating my bars back a little more towards me. When I sit forward at all I feel a lot more active pressure on my hands all the time. When neutral, my hands merely rest on the grips until I need them do something.

I neglected to mention that the 2" Rox risers from A.S.B. work great to allow the bar more height and rotation so you can really get a more custom positioning just for you.

I have the Rox 2" risers already installed.
I have foam grips on.
I filled the bars with silicone
I put extra heavy end weights on
I have gel palmed gloves
I ride fairly straight backed

Owned and ridden lots of bikes. Cruise control is the only thing that has ever helped so I can periodically take my hand off the throttle. Its more of an anatomical thing than a mechanical thing.

Thanks though, I think I have done all that can be done and i just have to accept that vibes are vibes and work around it somehow
