I am planning on riding from Akron to Marietta this Saturday via 77, 250, 800, and 26. We may take an alternate route heading back. Right now their are three riders confirmed. If anyone is interested in joining us or has any route suggestions let me know.

26 was closed at 537, the bottom section of 800 is finally freshly paved now.
How many miles you planning on, and what type of riding, I am very familiar with the routes down there.

Mojo: Was 26 closed N or S of 537, and how long ago was that? I was looking at 537 anyway but read a post that was about a year old that said the road was in very bad condition. Since it is a day trip, we want to keep the trip around 350 miles and maximize the twistys! I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Is Marietta a must, or is it a chosen destination at random?

Not sure on 26, I have avoided it all together due to the closing, it is a bridge repair, and it was still closed last weekend I guess.

537 is not a bad ride.

Marietta is not a must but seemed logical due to all the great roads surrounding it.

Yes it is a good choice.

Well work got me for Saturday so I will not be able to join you guys, which I was considering, so the best I can do is this. off the top of my head: Ride 250 into WV all the way to Hundred WV take WV 7 to WV 2 New Martinsville, WV turn right follow the signs for the bridge crossing, follow OH 7 to the right till you reach Hannibal, OH, turn left onto 536 (seriously mind yourself, this road can be tricky), this will end at 78, turn right and follow back to 7 turn left on 7 until you reach 556 turn left this will turn into 145 in Beallsville follow to 26, turn left ( again be careful on this stretch of road) through Woodsfield on 26/800 past 26 (still 800) to 255 turn left and follow until you reach Sardis turn right on 7 until you reach Fly and make a right onto 800 then follow 800 to 148 (this is a long stretch almost to Barnesville) turn right onto 148 and take this to Armstrong Mills, turn left onto 9 and follow until Cadiz, at this point you choose your route to home 9 will be boring compared to what you just experienced, if you do not want to take 9 follow 148 till it ends at Powhatten Point and that is 7 again you can take that North back to 250 at Bridgeport, and there are some nice twisties in that area too but I will leave that up to you for your track home.

This will be a nice ride, but only a touch of the other roads down there, another ride another time, and I have a headache now...LOL!

Oh I forgot, there was a detour on 255, it is about 50-75 feet, I just rode through it on my bike a few weeks back, oops illegal, it might not be there any longer.

Been wanting to do a run like that for a while now. Unfortunately I am on the road. Would love to go if another ride gets planned.

Mojo: Thanks for putting the effort into typing out the WV route but it is too late for me to switch it up that much, maybe next time.

George: It would have been nice if you could have joined us, but we are leaving at 07:00 and should be home by 16:00. I sent you a PM with my cell number just in case your work schedule is flexible or changed.

Our rather eclectic group consisted of two 1125R's, a SV650, a HD Ultra Glide, and a Goldwing Trike. We departed the Chapel Green Campus around 07:15. We ran 77S to 250S and stopped at the Express Café directly across the road from the Tappan Lake Dam. This turned out to be a decent little greasy spoon that was definitely biker friendly. Fortunately the pea soup that surrounded us a majority of this first leg, burned off by the time we put our stands back up. From the café we ran Deersville Road to 21S to 800S. This was a very scenic trek through Tappan Lake and the Clendening Reservoir. Then we rode 800S all the way down to Route 7 on the Ohio River. Route 800 was a nice twisty course through the rolling hills of Amish Country. The traffic was almost always light enough to avoid any slow downs even with the occasional Amish buggy. The last eight miles of 800 were simply awesome: brand new blacktop, a high concentration of corners, and some technical combos. It was so nice that we rode it again back up to Route 26 which was definitely my favorite section of the trip. Between the intersection of Routes 800 & 26 and Marietta lie 45 miles of desolate, curvy blacktop. As I recall, in that entire leg we saw less then a dozen vehicles outside of our group. To make it even more interesting we had to take about a mile long detour just South of Wingett Run that was mostly gravel, the payback was exiting back on to 26 through the Hune Covered Bridge. After lunching at the Marietta Brewing Co. we jumped 77N to 821N to 145N. The latter two were a lot like 800 but with a little more traffic especially the further North we traveled. Once we reached the New Philadelphia area, the roads straightened out and carried a lot more traffic. My 1125R performed flawlessly in the role it was designed for. The gravel road and last fifty miles on the highway had me wishing for a Uly, but overall my first long day trip on her was very successful. The only real downside was learning that one of our Christian Brothers and fellow Chapel Riders, Dr. Richard Weaver 76, departed his family and friends to be with the Lord. On a whim, he jumped his fully bagged HD and headed west. He hit a tanker truck broadside near Whitehall, MT and was killed instantly. He lived a good long live in the service of the Lord, and died doing what he loved. Anyone so inclined is asked to say a prayer for his family and friends.

I ended up going down that way too, but we didn't leave Stow til after 1. Was just me and the Bonnie with the GF on the back. I took 77 down to 250 to 800s. Ran it to Fly, then went into Marietta for dinner. I wanted to be off the back roads before dark, so we took 60 north out of Marietta to 83 to 78 back to 77 north to home.

There was one mishap we encountered. A large cruiser of some type went off going north (I think) on 800 a few miles north of I-70. No idea on their condition, police, fire, ambulances were all over the scene.
