Military - I am looking at the same tires for Loretta's next set. Had very good results from M3 Sportecs on a Firebolt. I have a ways to go, so not a pressing issue. Z |

US and Canadian gallons are not the same. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallon I was using US Gallons... today it's $1.57 a liter for premium. 1.57 (l) x 3.78 (l/gal) = $5.93 per Gallon. $5.83 X $1.05 Exchange = $6.23 per US Gallon. Blah. |

Fresno - My last two big "moments" were on brand new rubber. One was literally the first turn out of the garage and the other was the second turn out of the garage. <choke> Yea me too - EXACTLY my sad story. I can laugh about it now however! |

I just bought a pair of Pilot Road 3s and I am impressed with how they handle. I cant tell the difference between these and the Pilot Power 2cts. If I can double my mileage they will be worth the extra expense. That and I should be able to run a whole season without change. |

I just finished putting on some Michelin PP 2cts. Those tires turn in very nicely. They are much pointier than the Pirellis. |

This is a quote from Dunlop's Q2 referred to early in this thread, but perhaps could be said about any sports tire: "Radical new profile puts down a bigger footprint at extreme lean angles while also allowing greater lean angles and higher corner speeds to provide substantially better grip and handling blah blah blah... My question: "Is there a larger contact patch at lean than there is when riding up straight?" |

as with almost any proper sport-bike tire: yes, a larger footprint when leaned vs straight-up obviously your run-of-the-mill streched GIXXER 'one-million' with a 360 rear tire, will decrease it's footprint when leaned, due to the tire's profile. looking at this geometrically; the larger the tire diameter, and the steeper the profile will yeild larger leaned footprints |

I ended up with Michelin's Pilot Road 2 because I liked my last set of Michelin tires, the Pilot Power 2CT. But I just have to be more realistic: I'm not carving corners every day. Granted, I take a ride every day after work if I take the bike, but a lot of the miles I put on her are, unfortunately, slabbin' it ... I just had to come to that realization. I need a little harder compound in the middle so I'm not always thinking about mixing it up into the turns to keep from getting a huge flat spot. I have a friend on a Ducati Streetfighter who runs the PR2 as well, and he swears by them. And this is a 10-12 trackday per year kinda' guy (obviously, he switches out to Pures on the track). He claims plenty of grip under Ducati's twin which is good enough for me. Gets about 8000 miles out of a set and has riding habits--in terms of commuting--very much like mine. So I'll give these bad boys a try. Should be here tomorrow. |
