Remember, they were all signature series, it's just that not everyone has the paper and cover.

To me, an S2 it is the only "really" collectable Buell made by the Buell Motorcycle Company (as opposed to the Buell Motor Company that built only 443 bikes all together and all are collectable)
An early production original condition 1995 S2 in yellow with papers would be top of my list.

Just my biased twisted opinion... : )

As for numbers around... the book talks about over 1658 S2 machines built.
So my guess would be ones that are not crashed or very mucked about with... maybe a thousand good ones.. and getting less all the time...

Gavin,

I'm agreeing with you. Unfortunately, the "not mucked with" message hasn't really made the round. Many people on this board are working hard on figuring out how to change their bikes, not knowing that every dollar spent on "improvements" equals 2 dollars lost in value. For example, a black S2 may look cool (and it would be my personal favorite), but it's worth exactly less what it would cost to switch the color professionally back to the 3-stage original one.

A number of owners will always modify their bikes, and thats cool and a big part of the fun for some people.
It happens with every make and model. In time after the dust settles the good un-molested bikes will stand out as the ones to have.
Get in now guys, they will never be cheaper : )

Stunning bike Rkc00. My favourite style tuber and looks especially good with the original hugger.

If that bike ever wants to emigrate to NZ, I'm sure I could help out.

Y'know...people ask about "collectibility".

Screw that.

In the words of Erik himself - "just go ride the motorcycle". THAT is what it's for, and the S2 is no exception at all. Don't speculate, at least not with a Buell. Fill it with gas and go log some miles : )

Ride the 1997.

Sit on the 1996.

The 1996 is one of a very rare population of Buells.

from gorgeous Southern California

Certainly the smart thing to do. However, if I had a 1190 or RW750 I would be riding them. I am just not that smart.

I have to remind myself sometimes that they are only motorcycles as they stir so much passion. I am sure that 96 S1 will have a spot at the Buell Historical Society one day along with other great examples.

Mike, strictly speaking I am surprised you did not pick up the S2 as well. But as always I was pleased to see that go to another great Bueller as well.

I had a glorious weekend of wrenching on my 95 S2 (number 35 and my daily rider) and getting the 96 S2T ready for a road trip to AZ.

Might have the 1125CR sold in a few weeks. If I do I will be looking for a 98 S1 WL or a 95 S2

Mike, you really got bit bad with the Buell bug. Those tubers get under your skin.

I wonder how the other Mike is enjoying his S2?
