I received a gift certificate to Cyclegear. I can not decide what buy. I have not seen anything I can't live without. My 08 1125R is in absolute tip top shape, so whatever I get is for fun. I won't buy necessary items like tires or other maintenance items. I can always buy safety related items anytime without asking permission from the wife. I already have leather, boots, gloves, helmet, etc, etc. I might get one of those HD cameras, but I just ride on the street for fun. I don't get as aggressive as some. My movies might be boring. I dunno. Suggestions?

Skip on the Camera, they aren't worth the trouble. Plus, any number of your buddies will have one you can borrow.

As for boring, I'll tell you filming yourself riding is a lot like filming you and your wife. While you are doing it, you are pretty much convinced you are the man. Run that back on video and it becomes pretty obvious where your performance problems are. Either way, it's usually not something you want to post up for others to see : )

Why not buy some nice tools?

Excellent use for it there as a learning tool. You _think_ you're leaned over like Geoff May, when in reality, you're leaned over like me, ie; not at all. : )

If you are content with everything you already have, then I think the camera would be a good choice for you.

I got the gopro hd for xmas, it's pretty nifty. On 1080, it takes about 2 gb to film 21 minutes of video, but the fisheye effect is minimized. I'm going to play with it some more on the lower settings to see what it turns out like. If you get one, get a big sd (16 gb+) card to go with.

Be sure to get permission from your wife before posting on Badweb.

Court, I will. I'm testing the helmet mount now. : )

This should be good.

LMAO - does that mean the same in the States as it does in the UK?

We got the Cardo 2-way wireless communication system (also with lead for MP3 player) for like $209 from them. Not sure if they're still on sale - but that was nearly 50% off!

Note: this was NOT BLUETOOTH (probably why they were so cheap - but I have no interest in Bluetooth while riding)

They've even dropped the price:

Bluetooth is about $230

No, I guess not. Apparently there's something I missed.

This is what I was referring to.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already have a fairly extensive collection of tools. I have always purchased tools whenever I needed them on any given project. I have been working on cars and motorcycles for years. There is really not much I need in that department. I already have a Cardo bluetooth headset mounted in my helmet that connects to my GPS and cellphone. I can take calls or receive directions while going down the road. I guess I could save it for tires, but I don't need permission to buy tires. They are a safety item. I already have a couple of good visors for my helmet. What about the Contour HD 1080P camera? I think I might try one. I think it compares favorably against the Gopro.

They were referring to that part of the male anatomy that resembles a helmet (hint: think Darth Vader).

ACK! I could never stick that to my Arai helmet (and I have a gopro).

The Gopro is nice and I use it here and there. I've done some odd ball things with it for fun (on the end of the weed-eater, hanging from my dog's collar, end of a pole chasing the Koi around, playing pinball, etc). Unless you have a use for capturing some cool stuff, I'd pass.

I would consider the Cardo Q2 if you into riding with the wife or Q4 if you are into stereo bluetooth (ipod, zumo 660).

The Q2 has bluetooth, but not stereo. The person to person works great. I use the PTT and leave it on all day when riding with the GF. It makes long trips go by quicker.

My vote is for you to get a heated vest with sleeves.

If you don't already have this, it will transform your riding season and is something you will go back to year after year. It's like a remote control or sex with a great gal: you wonder what you will do without it. LOL!

Well, I bought a new rear tire. I really don't need one just yet, but I will change it before riding the Dragon. Pirrelli Diablo Rosso Corsa

+1 on both the heated clothes (STILL the best money I've EVER spent on motorcycling), and on the Cardo G4.

I recently discovered I can bluetooth Pandora radio from the Blackberry into the G4.

You'd think with 8GB of music on the Blackberry...I'd have the songs I needed.

Nope : )

My cardo g4 keeps losing its mind -- disconnecting from the bberry and not being able to resync with it.
