Long story short, my 09 XT died two miles south of Chugwater, WY, on my way back home to Billings from an Advrider event in Colorado. Had towing, so no problem there. It was the start of Sturgis Bike Week and they're rolling by me in droves. Not good. Dealer in Cheyenne was closed when I arrived. Next morning I find out that they won't work on Buells and the dealer in Denver was swamped. Worse. Ended up renting a truck and hauling it back to Billings where Beartooth Harley-Davidson/Buell replaced a fried coil under warranty. I was advised (thanks Nate) to submit a request to the MoCo for some reimbursement. They called today and will cover my cost in full for the truck rental and half the gas. Payment is in the form of a $400.00 credit towards any parts, service, clothing I want. Looks like the Comfort Kit and maybe something else. Pretty good deal given that they really didn't have to do anything. |

My wife's Ss is presently sitting in Williamsport, PA. We had to have it towed there. When they get the parts and fix it, we'll have to return and ride it home. That will include a couple of nights in motels. The towing alone is going to cost $200.00. How do you submit a request for reimbursement? |

Call Harley-Davidson Customer Care at 414-343-8400. You'll get the info spiel, but it's option 4. Debbie is the person I talked to. Never got a direct extension, but you will need to give her a description of the problem, write up that description, make copies of your receipts and fax them to her (414-343-8358). They didn't cover my motel, but I would have had to spend the night regardless and my towing was covered by insurance. I was also advised to look into a HOG membership, which, apparently covers a lot of this kind of inconvenience & expense. |

I was also advised to look into a HOG membership which you get for free with a Harley (for the first year) Perhaps they should be giving the roadside and insurance benefits with a Buell as well |

Your right, that's pretty impressive they helped you out like that. I know how you felt out there, I rode to the 85th birthday party in Milwaukee on a BMW and at the city limits we pulled over to check the map. Upon returning to the highway I spun the splines on the drive shaft! Had to tow it to the dealer that was closed so I chained it to their front porch and had to ride bitch on the back of my buddies Harley with a saddlebag in each hand! I feel your pain! |
