Kissing your mirrors is important but you also should move your lower body over, the idea is to keep the body and the bike parallel, but not in line. You dont want them to be angled by moving just your shoulders or just your butt, but the entire body is just shifted over. http://www.flickr.com/photos/18832700@N00/3868726484/in/set-72157622053860343/ As you can see here my bikes not leaning much more then your profile pic but I'd guess the overall speed/corner tightness is higher because I have my body shifted a good bit over. This picture gives you a better idea of what I'm talking about. http://www.flickr.com/photos/18832700@N00/3868726484/in/set-72157622053860343/ You can hang off more but just this amount gives me a lot more control and MUCH more lean clearance. |

If your pegs look like that, you need to seriously work on your form imho It's like chicken strips, they mean sh*t on their own... look at the rider's form, line, smoothness, and speed around a corner... that's more meaningful than whether or not you lean the bike to it very limit (anyone can do that without being "fast", have proper technique... etc). |

Hard parts on the ground are bad, they act as a lever and take weight off the wheels= loss of traction. Read the lee parks book total control, and if you get the chance, take the class. After taking the class a few weeks ago and practicing on my own for about half an hour, I can get my knee down going around a 40 foot circle at 20-25 mph. |

While an uly has much lower pegs, that unnecessary... Work on the body positioning (+1). And I dont know much about the Lee Parks class but I plan to take a Keigwins school ASAP (next novice school). Was going to do a Keith Code's day but at $450's (with your own bike) per day, and with 2 days being much more helpful, its not cheap (2 day camp with some extras is like $1200). Keigwins is $590's, use your own bike, two days, 45 min sessions (vs 20 minute sessions with Code), 25 full time instructors, usually less then 30 students, basically one on one and you get to pick (can change every session) who you want to work with. Can sleep in padock, free suspension tuning on track (big plus!), tire services on track (cheaper tires, different compounds etc...) Basically for the price of the two day Keith Code day you get more track time, more private instruction and could buy a set of race tires for the two days and two sets of street tires all for the same cost . |
