I also don't like how once something goes into the archives and there's a new post, it stays there. Like a few weeks ago when I found the post on mirrors from 3 or 4 years ago. I replied and it stayed right there in the archive. Honestly who goes through the archive looking for new posts? +1 on the aviators, everytime I'm outside and one flies over my house, I look up. Just can't help it. (Message edited by zatco81 on June 08, 2009) |

I like avatars. They're small by necessity, confined to the left hand side of the screen, and provides a visual reference for an individual, just like a face. Of course, being an art guy, I dig all things visual. Signatures, on the other hand, annoy the piss outta me. I don't need a paragraph detailing the mod history of your bike every single time you submit a "LOL". THAT is indeed distracting. ~SM |

Badweb rules! It's the first Buell forum I used and it has been phenominal!! The search is sometimes painful, but post a question about it and most likely, someone posts a link to the post you were looking for. I've gone from knowing basically nothing about Buells to knowing what I need to in about two weeks. Everyone on here is respectful an crazy helpfull. I went on xbuell and it is cheesy not cheez-e. Thanks Badweb and thanks to everyone who has turned this "squid" in a, ahhhh, an octopus I guess?!? I'll use this forum before asking any "shop pro" because you guys know and have been through it- Thanks- |

One thing I really like about Badweb is it loads fast on my phone. Sites with avitars load far slower and sometimes not at all. KISS+2 |

K.I.S.S. says it all. Isn't that what Buell is all about? |

I'm with Swordsman. They're small and off to one side. If that distracts you then...hey, there's that bunny again. |

On forums that use sigs and avatars, they can all be disabled in the user profile if you don't like seeing them. Problem with badweb is the average member is 44 according to the last poll, most of you guys didn't even grow up with TV. If Badweb was available via telegraph instead I believe it would be more popular with you guys |

+1 rpm 4x4 I found, bought and serviced my bike all on badweb and all on my phone- technology rules!!! A simple, easy to navigate site- the best- bar none Pages load in seconds on my phone. All the clutter is flashy but unnecissary. Maybe a better spell check would be nice....... |

Or a spell check that offers suggestions on misspelled words instead of making you guess over and over again. Lol (doesn't happen very often, but when it does...) Froggy, I say it's time for a new age poll. I also like the feature on other forums that displays, very small at the bottom of the screen, the members that are currently signed in. ... and the bunny... Does it by chance have a pancake on it's head?? +1000 on the KISS. Search = PIA but doable. Spell check => just open dictionary.com in another window. Clutter => I already have enough of that crap in my house, don't need it on BadWeb too. |

Search? Google button at the top. Works when ours doesn't. Spell check? Use Firefox. VBulletin? We've got it. Played with it. At first most of us liked it. At the end of the day, we were less than impressed. Kind of like changing from Linux to Windows. It's prettier, but we're already used to this software, and Discus Pro ain't broke. Bunnies? We don't need no stinkin' bunnies! |

I type any decent sized post into MS Word then copy paste it here, that way I get a grammar check along with spelling. |

You guys ALL need to switch to Firefox. Less susceptible to bugs than IE, and it has a built in non-stop spell checker. Oh look, there it goes, I spelled "susceptible" wrong. Doh, twice! See? Now it's fixed! ~SM |

Why is Chrome better (I haven't looked at it yet)? The only thing I can think of that could improve on Firefox is browser with the same capabilities that is a little less resource hungry. Ff is a greedy lil' bastard. ~SM |

Firefox is becoming clogged like IE now, give chrome a try, at first I didn't like it. My middle mouse button scroll wasn't working, but they updated it and fixed it. It is really fast, also REALLY clean, no clogging or bogging down. If you like FF you'll like chrome. |

I use IE8, Chrome, and Opera 10 on a daily basis. I have never had a machine where Firefox worked or installed fine. Actually Firefox managed to install itself like spyware on my computer with some other program, so that pisses me off even more about its crumminess. Anyway, Chrome is OK, but nothing special. Its not as fast as Opera, and its missing too many basic features. It is very stripped down, but one thing I like about it is every tab opens as a new process so if one tab crashes, all the other tabs don't go with it. IE8 is cool, the accelerators are nice once you get in the habit of using them. Some websites don't work great because IE is now standards compliant, so you have to enable compatibility mode, which seems to make things worse. I do find it to be faster than IE7, but still much slower than Chrome and Opera 10. Opera 10 is the best browser around, it is the fastest browser on the market, and it scores a 100 in the Acid page rendering test. Version 10 added the built in spell checker, while the older versions had a plugin for it. It is a little odd at first till you get used to the interface, but it is smooth sailing after that. Opera was the first browser for many features including tabs and page zooming. It tends to be a bit of a memory and drive space hog, but thats because of the amount of data it caches to speed things up. |

+1 with swordsman! A new post in an archive and it should go right to the top! It's a joke that it doesn't. Signatures are annoying but avatars are great! |

Duh...posts coming out of archives defeats the purpose of having archives. :-p |

Every other forum site brings up archived threads when someone post something new. I think it counts down on some of the dump posts that we get here. Like right side air scoop |

I think the archives are a good place for "dead" threads, but when someone posts a new reply it should go to the top otherwise it would be overlooked. |

Zatco81 +1 on that. Most other forums do that. So that even old threads can revive if someone comes across a similar problem or a different solution. |

So that even old threads can revive if someone comes across a similar problem or a different solution. That would increase the knowledge of everyone on this site. |

+ when someone searches and finds a related thread they can reply to that one instead of starting a new one. Theoretically it should cut down on the number of new/repeat posts. |
