I love how everyone here is jumping on Bill for saying this is a non-issue.

He is absolutely right, it is a non issue.

The government released the radical left wing version in February.
And from what I had read, both of these were started under the Bush administration, yet finished during the Obama administration. I personally believe neither of these were at the behest of either Presidents. I think it is just part of the day to day cover your ass reports.

Face it since the turn of the last century the intelligence groups have been monitoring any (all?) extremist groups. Remember the "red scare" stuff of the 1950's, anti-vietnam stuff of the 1960's, etc...
This stuff really ramped up after 1995 when Timmy McV decided to park a truck full of fertilizer near a government building.

The only difference today is the fact we have the freedom of information act, so we actually might have a chance of seeing it someday.

Interesting that the report now can't seem to find an author . . . no one will put their name on it or claim authorship.

Zero data, a bunch of "I think" material . . . I'm betting on a 23 year old recent graduate "democratic strategist".

This administration provides us with daily embarrassment and "Chains you can believe in".

Idiots.

Keep an eye on Rahm.

But, you're right, I don't really fit in, much, with your clique.

So just ignore me, There is no way that I can match your superb intellects and rapier sharp wits to be able to add anything to your insightful posts.

You can believe the hyped up hyperbole of your own party, or you can laugh at it.

Sounds like you are a firm believer of your parties "hyped up hyperbole".

Issue, non-issue, whatever. The bottom line is ALL OF US are paying for people to spend time on writing this crap, and THAT pisses me off.

If this report is "for real", then we have a real problem with the way things are headed. If it's not, then it's just busy work, and I shouldn't have to pay for someone to be bored at work.

Just another reason why the size of the federal government should be cut by at LEAST half. Oops, might have an Obama-rama agent at my door tonight.

"I prefer to use my vote wisely once every four years in a voting booth and NOT on a motorcycle forum!"

I prefer to discuss these things with people of opposing views. I enjoy standing up for my beliefs and trying to understand the beliefs of others.

This motorcycle forum is as good a place as any, and I like the people who debate here, even when I don't agree with them.

I for one don't mind paying for people to keep track of extremist groups.

I'm also not a believer in either side's rhetoric, and I take liberal commentators just about as seriously as I take conservatives. My beliefs are my own and they don't conform with either party's platform.

I have a feeling that most of the people who got all worked up by the original post got that way by reflex rather than reason.

There were plenty of reports about the threat of "left-wing" extemists during the Bush years, didn't mean every tree hugger or tofu eater was a ELF or ALF member. Think this report may have to do with the neo-nazi involved plots to assasinate the first mulatto President, not your average NRA Dittohead guy. Just my .02.

+1 on the talking heads, Colbert is the only straight shooter out there. He makes Olbermann and Beck look like buffoons!

Bill0351:

+1! I really appreciate your latest post.

We should all act and speak more by reason than reflex- too many of us have been conditioned by talk radio rhetoric to just "bark", like the neighbor's dog.

Nobody taught him to "speak"- he just barks when alarmed, reason or no.

The formula for most talk radio nowadays doesn't really allow for dialogue, just doggin'.

+1 for Steven Colbert AND Jon Stewart! Humor is the sweet sugar added to the bitter medicine of daily news and political observation. Nobody does it better...

Heck, the GF wants me to get cable- Comedy Central and Speedvision are greatly missed by youn's truly.

A 'report' from the I&A section of DHS, that is not written as an actual I&A report, which 'normally' includes actual Intelligence & Analysis?

I can see a 'memo'. A ‘memo’ to LE stating that DHS I&A believes increased Rightwing extremist activity is possible based on the factors cited.

Not a 'report'. A ‘report’ which was released to LE agencies nationwide worded to read as probable Rightwing extremist activity based on speculation of the factors cited.

I've done I&A. This report is NOT I&A. It's politics. Plain & simple.

If I’d ever written an I&A ‘report’ like this in my previous life, I’d have been told to sit down, shut up & to stop interrupting the adults.

Same rules should apply here IMO.

The problem with 'reports' like this being released nationwide to LE agencies is the broad brush used, instead of providing any actual useable I&A for said LE agencies. How many departments are now monitoring bumper stickers based on a ‘report’ with no actionable intelligence? See how asinine it is now?

As I stated the 1st time: This ‘report’ should have never been placed on paper, and DHS needs to remove their cranium from their rectal cavity.

"I prefer to use my vote wisely once every four years in a voting booth and NOT on a motorcycle forum!"

If it bothers you so much, why are you still participating in an obviously political thread?

I wonder how many people who got that article even bothered to click on the link provided and actually read the report. I would wager it wasn't too many. Or, if they read it without being told ahead of time that it was "hit job" on conservatives, how many would have given it a second thought.

It's not a "hit job." It's a boring intel brief that was clearly written by Captain Obvious.

I wonder how many people who got that article even bothered to click on the link provided and actually read the report.

I did, but then again I like to read things.

Or, if they read it without being told ahead of time that it was "hit job" on conservatives, how many would have given it a second thought.

Reading it as an I&A 'report' I was left with the very distinct impression that the author(s) couldn't find their arse if they were given a map & compass.

It's not a "hit job." It's a boring intel brief that was clearly written by Captain Obvious.

Calling it an 'intel brief' is akin to calling a T-1A Jayhawk a 'fighter'.

Again, this 'report' should have never been written, let alone released without reviewing it before being issued. It's not worth the paper required to print it.

Keep an eye on Rahm.
I've still got mine on Bolten.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_Bolten
On June 13, 2007, the House Judiciary Committee issued a subpoena to Bolten for documents related to the dismissal of U.S. attorneys. The subpoena had a deadline of June 28. On Wednesday, July 25, 2007, the House Judiciary Committee voted 22-17 to cite Bolten for contempt of Congress for his failure to produce the documents in response to its subpoena. On Feb. 14, 2008, the full House of Representatives voted to cite him for contempt by a vote of 223-32.

I guess Bush should have fired them all like Clinton did before him rather than weed out the ones that weren't prosecuting cases that should have been prosecuted based on their own personal politics.

Great blurb in the New Jersey paper today . .

quote:

Beware of Stimulus Bearing Gifts

A portion of President Obama's stimulus package is already being implemented - If you are employed, you may have noticed. Your weekly withholding tax had been reduced, thereby increasing your take-home pay. Generally, this amounts to less than $10 a week. I seriously doubt it will change your lifestyle.

More important, it is creating an additional tax liability when you file your tax return next year. What you receive now is a deduction from your weekly tax obligation, resulting in income on which you are obliged to pay taxes next year.

What am I missing?

Interesting . . . without so much as $1 of the various BILLIONS having yet hit the streets (more of it occurs in 2011) that so many are claiming credit for "turning around the economy".

Keep an eye on Rahm.

>>>>do you have a thing for him???

Absolutely not.

But I'd be willing to bet he'll never see the end of the term.

The guy was known as a crook in Chicago.

He has a hot temper.

He can't keep his mouth shut.

He will, at the very least, self destruct. But for some reason I see him as falling victim to a much greater crime.

I have no reason beyond intuition.

If a guy who had his looked walked in I'd never hire him. Folks who can't cut it in the private sector go to politics.

I could be entirely wrong. . . wouldn't be the first time.

"If a guy who had his looked(sic) walked in I'd never hire him."

What is it about his personal appearance that makes you think he wouldn't make it in the private sector?

I have noticed you repeat the "watch Rahm" mantra fairly often. What exactly are we supposed to be watching for him to do?

Please don't quote the bible.
Politics is flammable enough without throwing in your particular religious interpretation.
The older I get, the more "color" blind I hope to become.

Obama's choice of Rahm caught my attention immediately. I thought to myself, we just got rid of a bunch of criminals, how can Rahm represent change.
I figure Obama hired him so that the commiserating curmudgeons will have someone to entertain themselves with for the short term.
