Amen. Rode it to work today, just like almost every day. Gotta love 20 miles of curvy roads to commute on!

I do not own one but I sure would like to and hope to before years end. Why should I not be on BadWeb? This site has helped me a lot in deciding I did want a xb12xt and what I should keep an eye out for after I get it. Knowledge is power and this site has helped me become much more knowledgeable about this bike. To limit this site to only Buellers would be a shame. Plus I get to read all the good Court stories.

I'm sure Badbuell70 is just frustrated over all the recent Uly rants & nay saying.

Don't take it to heart.

I'm sure those of us who don't own a Uly but wouldn't hesitate to get one if we had the means (like me) are welcome here : )

Absolutely right - and hey, you might find one for sale on here for a great price, with the added benefit of knowing that the seller is probably an engaged member of the Buell community. It wouldn't be such an anonymous sale.

That said, anyone want to buy a 1999 Suzuki GSX-F 600 or a Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic?

I am not. Just don't want to discourage others that may see that and feel unwelcome because they don't own one. I do agree with him though... Get out and ride more!

Lopoetve, just remember that the internet blows reliability concerns out of proportion. Yeah, you hear about the problems, but how often do you hear about the riders putting in miles of riding? Not too often, because they are out riding.

All bike and brands have issues of some sort. Buell is no exception.

Amen bro!!!!

Besides a few quirks my 06 with 11k on it has been reliable as the sunrise. Only reason it does not have more miles on it is that I own other bikes and enjoy them as well.

If its broke.......fix it.....if it is running ride it.

That is all.

Just broke 10,000 on my '07 with only a stuck valve to complain about. Great bike, tons of fun and relatively maintenance free so far. You have to love the character of the bike too, just nothing else out there like it.

I know there are other threads for this, but...

...aside from maintenance, think about all the people you know who DON'T gush about their bikes. They just go riding on that thing in their garage that they bought that has 2 wheels. It's a motorcycle. Motorcycles are cool and fun. Whoopdeedoo. I ride a motorcycle. It has no name, but at least it has 2 tires.

My buddy who had a Wee Strom felt that way - he thought it was fun, until he traded it for a big Yamaha V-Star 1500 touring model. He didn't love that V-Strom - that bike could do just about anything the V-Star could - it just didn't speak to him. Neither does the Yamaha. It was the basic bike for him. He's not going to get online and beat the drum, outside of: "That V-Star is damn reliable." I guess that's okay.

Am I deluding myself, or is there the same kind of deep love between riders and their bikes that is comparable to Buell (please don't say H-D...that's a given)?

Rrrrrr...jealous. I still have a few days of work before I disappear into VA and WV based on some of the road recommendations of fellow BadWeBbers. I'm going to have my bags full as I leave the office on Friday afternoon and just head into the hills for the weekend (the girlfriend is out of town).

No bitchin', just ridin'.

There are a few that have that love. I loved my old Nighthawk... was only a 250, but damn that bike talked to me, taught me, and then moved on to teach someone else. I put 2k miles on a 250 NH in a month and a half. Same with my CBR - she spoke to me. The Ninja 650 - it was like your friend's V-Star, Hooper. Fast, accurate, and totally boring. My Sportster is the opposite, and I know the Buell will be too. BMW also seems to have that some.

A Uly, a Goldwing, and an SV650S...(this sounds like a joke, doesn't it?)...are riding from Southwest Virginia to Deals Gap tomorrow and returning on Friday. All are welcome if you want to tag along the 800ish mile trip. It be nice to see some other Buells.

Went out and put 420 miles last saturday. Gawd I love the ULY!!!!!! Very confidence inspiring, easy to handle just a fantastic bike. I plan on putting another 400-500 miles this weekend too before I have to park her for two weeks while I'm out of town for some company training.

I used to LOVE wearing this shirt behind the parts counter at the multi-line dealer I used to work for.

The picture is small because I used it as my avatar for a while on another site.

Hooper,
I think there are definitely other brands that can get the kind of onwer/bike bond going like you have with Buell.
Personally, I have had that connection with Ducati and KTM (though I sold my Ducati to fund the Uly, I WILL have another Duc in the future).
Ducati does their own thing and has lots of personality (sound familiar?).
KTM knows their customer, provides excellent racer and event support, and has been rock solid since they re-invented in the early/mid 1990's.
Heck, BMW has this strong bond going, too, but admittedly it is a bit different in the Bavarian camp.

Having owned all of the above 4 brands (still have 3 of the 4) plus various Japanese brands, I cna say I never felt the same connection with Big Japan, even though the bikes were (usually) good or great.
I also had a Husqvarna for a while, but never could bond with that beast. Just did not work for me. Long time ago, though.
