I have been through three windshields in the five years I have owned my FXDX and have never been completely happy for one reason or another. My latest attempt at windshield nirvana as the standard height HD QR. I have been happy with the protection it provides, but it is too tall for me to see over comfortably and I have to look through it all the time. I adjusted to that, but it is a real problem in the rain. So, I thought I'd take a chance and have my expensive HD screen cut down. I took it to a local plastics shop and had 3 inches trimmed off. So, this morning I got out on the interstate to see how it worked. It worked great. I easily see over it and while I may get some more wind at highway speeds it was nothing of concern. In fact, up to about 70 it was very smooth. Over 70 I could feel a bit more wind, but I didn't experience any buffeting up to 90. I can't say over 90 as I was a chicken about attracting the unwanted attention of a radar gun. So, I can highly recommend this modification. I am 5'10" and have Wide Glide bars on my FXDX, so I sit up pretty straight. I also have some new bags I am very happy with. After 5 years I am getting the bike to where I like it even more. I still want a more sporting bike, but my FXDX has turned into a very nice mile eater. |

Any before or after photos, Dan? Have you ever thought about the small fairing that comes on the FXDXT?

I'll take an after and dig up a before as soon as I can. And yes, I wanted to get the fairing and fit it to my FXDX, until I went to dealership and priced everything out. I don't remember the price now, but let me just say it was a lot of dollars. |
