As pointed out earlier, it may have been an incorrect installation of the mount and inappropriate fasteners that led to this failure. If you intend on selling the bike (which probably is a good idea for your particular situation) the prudent thing to do would be to make sure the proper fasteners and installation procedure are followed to the letter. |

Grovskopa, give the x1 some time. You just bought it and have no idea how good the bike really is. The two failures you have experienced are rare and if properly repaired should never happen again. I have two tubers and have never had the problems you've had or none anyone else who has either. Take it easy. Few bikes will give the experience of riding like a Buell. Ride safe, BR. |

Uh huh, where do I find details on the proper installation procedure then? Service manual? |

my understanding is that the XB heads do flow better, but the XB cams are less aggressive giving it that more "refined" feeling. The S3 heads don't flow as well, but it has more aggressive cams. That is why they are advertised with the same HP. Put the better heads with the more aggressive cams and you will have more HP..... its more complicated than that...right now, the 08s have the mechanics locked out of the ecm and no one has a program that works.. mine hick-ups and surges and nothing can be done about it.. |

They are what is referred to as soft ramp cams so the small stem valves will stay in the engine at high RPM's ... |

Grovskopa You should also check your swing arm mounts they are the triad in the mounting system. I would also suggest that you get your VIN handy then go the UKBEG site and see if their recall link will work for you. If not call a Buell dealership and have then run your VIN for recall status. Joe |

Don't forget the front isolator. It will be out in your hand anyways, right? Look out for the borders of where the rubber is adhered to the metal surfaces. If you see any sign of the rubber peeling away from the steel, you should replace it. |

I agree w/ Nate, though I wouldn't mess around. I w/ just change it, too hard to tell if good or bad. |

Part # for front isolator: 16207-79B (Harley-Davidson part #) OR you may buy the Buell Blast! front isolator, (part # L0501.T) which is IDENTICAL and costs about 1/3 as much. Take your time and do a nice, through job. Then go out and enjoy your Buell. Wow - Sweden, how cool is that? Oz "Nobody gets in to see the Wizard. Not nobody, not no how." |

Think you will find that 16207-79B is now a -79C which is a better isolator ... The "BUELLschitte" part number for the 16207-79B is L0501.T which is used on the BLAST and "TUBE FRAME" BUELLs ... -79B is $16.95 and the -79C is $43.00 ??? The 1999 BUELL Parts Book, BMC gave it the LOOK A LIKE Harley-Davidon Part Number of 16336-99Y ... (Message edited by buellistic on April 09, 2008) |

Grovskopa - you can find the proper service procedure here. Look for Bullitin B-018 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/263547.html?1173484579 Make sure you use factory hardware to re-install the mount, they are special bolts. You can get them from the dealer or you can find the right kit here... www.americansportbike.com |

Don't sell it!!! Parts are cheap, servicing is simple. I have had the broken front engine mount, the crank seal, the torn front isolator and I have a few things still to do, BUT, the work is easy and the satisfaction BIG. I've spent a bit of money but a hell of a lot less than if things went wrong with a Ducati or something Japanese. |

I won't sell it, I already put too much money into it (and I do love riding it, rough baby yeah!) Though you are very wrong about "cheap parts". Here in Sweden Harley is the most luxurious of brands. As an example: a sportster costs 80% more than a Yamaha R1 |

OK I got mount and bolts now, but I reckon I need to order those front isolators (L0501.T) now. How do I find it on americansportbike.com though? I tried searching for "L0501.T" without result. Hope I get them QUICK I am anxious without my bike |

Parts are expensive in Australia too. That's why I buy my stuff from Al at American Sport Bike. Links are on the site here. Believe me, parts are indeed cheap compared to most other brands. |

It never ceases to amaze me how cheap I/you can buy parts at times on ebay if you know what you are looking at and what it cost retail. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&ih=004&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem =&item=140221508417&rd=1 It also helps to know that if installed properly, it is as good as any after market part on a stock to mild motor. OK fixed! Wasn't that hard to replace actually, just the top bolt was a bit tricky. |
