Nope still in the shop...
They are hoping for sometime next week, I am hoping sometime within the next two (something will come up, it usually does).
Although the firebolt has been surprising me more and more as "re-break-in" continues.

Hey Peter -

I just opened mine up and see much the same thing as your bottom pic on the first page of this thread.
I moved the light around, put her in gear and rocked her till a set of valves started opening(wish I had a kicker).
It's nothing but very thin, shiny carbon flakes. At least on mine.
A couple have flaked off, leaving bare shiny valve showing.
Loretta is running VERY well and her throats look like your pix. YMMV

Zack,
Interesting...
Maybe its just a "phase" that this engine goes through?
We will have to wait and see what the guys from the factory say.
Best,
Peter

I have fantastic news!
Shes coming back home tomorrow!
I am very much excited.

So from what I understood; they suspect that the build up was caused by the faulty O2 and fuel delivery system...
Hopefully I will be able to provide a more detailed description once I get the "report" with the bike.

I was impressed with Buell's kind gesture, they gave me the extended warranty free of charge for being the guinea pig... At this point there should be a "quick" fix in the works for this problem.

I would personally like to thank all of you for your support.
I would also like give a special thanks to Court, Andrew, Jeff, Matt, and the Buell support team!

I have learned some very important things about dealing with early 1125R issues, be persistent and patient. Frequently call Buell Customer Service and your dealer, don't be pushy but just ask for an update every now and then. Then it becomes clear that they are indeed working on it, and not just sitting around.

Best,
Peter

P.S.
I must have completely lost my mind at this point...
Last night I had a very strange dream;
The firebolt and I were running away from the "evil" 1125R which was hunting us down.
Whenever we would find a safe spot the 1125R will show up and we would have to run again. But they weren't just bikes, they had personalities (although they did not speak) and I wouldn't ride the firebolt, but rather it drive me around...
Very strange, I wonder what it means...

Neil. He's not crazy. Different in every sense, yes, but not crazy (this is CA after all).

I'm so happy for you Peter. Now you have a big chore though... to catch up with my 3600 miles

See you on the roads!

The dream question is beyond me though.. You're not that far away from Burbank.. Knock on Dr. Phil's door for answers.

I had dreams last night of popping wheelies and doing smiley donuts on Loretta....

Nice dream... Another case of Tron/Knight Rider syndrome, I've seen it on BadWeB before. You need to get that checked out immediately!! Buell should include psychiatric extended warranty with your new purchase.

Well I got her back...
Although this extravaganza is not over yet;
-Still has hard starts...
After about 23 miles of highway, I stopped at the gas station and she just would not start...
So I had to open the throttle a little to get her going.
Before that I tried to cycle the ignition, with no luck.
-Rear brake still does not have the "bite" of the firebolt (which was never too strong to begin with)
-I flipped to the instant fuel efficiency when I was approaching my house, it was 14mpg?!?! cruising at 30mph?
25mpg I could have lived with but 14, I do not think I can ever fancy that (especially when I am barely on the throttle).

On a more positive note:
-Throttle response is hugely improved.
-Handling is phenomenal, incredibly delicate. I must have forgotten how nice it was.
-I was given a battery tender, many thanks!

So here is the dyno run... I really hope that was before they replaced the O2 sensor:

I really need to get used to the clutch... the engagement being at the very end of the lever actuation.

I will keep an eye out for the mileage, but back to dealer tomorrow...

I know someone who is not getting a cover tonight!
The romance is gone.

Well I have made a decision...

I no longer want an 1125R, I am going to try to get a refund...
I have better things to spend my money on, and I just do not need the additional stress right now...

I will try to find the buyer of my firebolt, another one and keep mine for myself.

Are you gonna lemon law that piece of fruit ?
I know of one person who was very successful going that route with his Buell but it took a little time. Just be patient and keep your cool when dealing with them and all should work out for you in the end.
Best of luck to you sir.

I just got a call this afternoon, that gave me the motivation to hang in there a bit longer...
If it does boil down to getting a refund, the Lemon Law would be my very LAST resort.
Thanks,

I'm Gess-ing you got an encouraging call from Court? Erik hisself? Naw,Erik wouldn't ever call an owner in distress.

Cut your losses.......move on.Remember all of us XBr owners with defective headlights?
Well WE'RE still waiting for a BMC solution.

I hope i don't get reprimanded for my opinion

All the Firebolt Headlights suck. Not only did they not put out a great amount of light but the reflective coating would come off making them real dim. There is nothing (currently) wrong with the 1125R headlights or any of the non R XB's

Ducxl what is the problem with the head lights.

OMG Mike,where have you been?
Since 2003 we've been reporting where the plastic housing of our XBr models is melting and the reflective coating burns away leaving NOTHING to cast the beam forward.Buell Motorcycle Company has "good willed" replacement of some units. In the last two weeks the inconsistent corporate behavior has provided one owner with new units while two others (myself as one) has been denied replacement of these defective headlight reflectors.

As new owners of a new model(1125r) YOU TOO can expect the same inconsistent treatment from Corporate Buell.Their track record is one of sourcing the cheapest products possible in order to keep costs down. But too often they're sourcing defective products. But now i've said too much and will likely suffer a reprimand.

Other than my defective XBr headlight i've thoughroughly enjoyed MY Buell experience.
My old 1975 BMW had a MORE robust headlight than my 2005 XBr piece of crap

Hey Ducxl I did not know about these forums till a half a year ago.

I did buy the headlights off of ebay new at a good price because there projection lights and was planning on using hid lights in them on the blast.

I seen expensive ones that looked cool on a lightning for 500.00 so I figured I could use them on the blast.

Hid lights are so much brighter and wanted projections so I could see farther down the road, plus give the bike a unique look.

I bought the Blast to teach my son to ride so when he is ready for the ulysses I will take the bike apart and rebuild it, and there is a kit to put it in a sportster frame and he wants a sport bike and a cruising bike so maybe I can turn it into a bobber.

I have been buying parts of ebay when I find a good deal for anything that can go on any of the bikes and just picked up a big bore kit for the Blast for 50.00.

I am going to hop up the motor and a little light bike with a good amount of power would be fun around town.

I do not mind using it now but the seat is a torture device, out of all the bikes I have had this got to be the worse seat I have sat on.

If you are interested in hid lights check out www.starrotors.com 100.00 for a two bulb kit and for another 25.00 you can get digital, and is much better with smaller boxes so mounting them is easy and the bulbs are much brighter and 35 watts and I think they put out less heat to?

hid is the way to go if looking for bright lights and also give a blue tint that stands out in traffic in the daytime and that is safer, I ran both lights on the ulysses in the daytime.

Firebolt headlights are problematic.

Relentless indignant griping about that fact on an internet discussion forum is unlikely to produce positive results.

I FEAR my participation may be in jeopardy.
I REALLY do,and i'm saddened by it.

Blake, sir,BMC has kept us XBr owners in the dark for far too long.I'll spare others the details(right now).

I cited the headlight problem as a warning to new 1125r models just how well BMC responds to their defective products.

Even their "customer service personel" respond inconsistently. They HAVE to THREE separate XBr owners in the last week.

I love my Buells'. I consider myself a Bueller FIRST and foremost, despite owning a superior product.

The 1125r charging system likely IS a robust design and COULD work as designed. But IN MY OPINION is manufactured with defective product. ANY owner stranded by a defective product is one TOO many.

We'll see how happy 1125r owners will be once the temperatures warm to riding season and their machines are tied up for weeks.

I applaude Blakes efforts with the Badweb community, but slapping down poor owners of defective product in order to promote BMC does the Buell community of owners a disservice.Buell is about owners right? Yes?

Relentless indignant griping about that fact on an internet discussion forum is unlikely to produce positive results.

Relentless criticism of a faulty Buell design should be part of any agenda on a Buell dedicated discussion forum. Such could produce positive results if the Buell discussion forum custodian(s) supported the contributors to the forum in such circumstances, rather than beat them down for their insistence.

On a related note. I don't recall ever hearing about anyone ever wanting refunding for a brand new to them and to the market motorcycle, except when it comes to Buell that is. Back in 1998 I had my first S1W refunded after just four weeks. You'd think after 10 years Buell could avoid this disgrace.

Inaccurate and part of the problem.

Accurate, they've done a poor job by using a "talk to whomever answers the phone" rather than a dedicated informed person.

Not one I would participate in. I've got four kids... I have plenty of time spent surrounded by people whining.

How about "Relentless resolution opportunities to improve aspects of Buell designs, either on our own or through the factory should be a part of any agenda on a Buell dedicated discussion forum".

Shortly after I bought it, my Buell M2 blew a speedo sensor. $50 for a new one, which blew about 2 weeks later.

I called Buell CS, and complained. I figured out what I thought was causing the problem, and fixed it. Other people helped me work it out. The solution worked, so I helped a bunch of other people solve the problem while Buell got a fix into production. After a few months of this, Buell had a fix out right about the time it stopped being fun building filters for people.

It was a win / win.
